The Spring 2026 anime season is arriving with a mix of new shows and returning favorites. Among the sequels is another season of Dorohedoro, a dark fantasy series from the animation studio MAPPA. MAPPA, founded in 2011, has become a major player in the anime industry thanks to hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. While Dorohedoro has a dedicated fanbase, it hasn’t reached the same level of popularity as some of MAPPA’s other shows. The anime is based on a manga by Q Hayashida, which ran from 2000 to 2018.
The anime adaptation of the manga premiered in 2020, two years after the manga concluded, and was initially available on Netflix. After a six-year wait, a second season has finally arrived, and it’s even more thrilling than before. Starting April 1st, Crunchyroll and Netflix are streaming Season 2, with new episodes becoming available shortly after they air in Japan. With the new season out, the voice actors are building excitement by sharing their reactions to the story and key moments.
Caiman’s Voice Actor Shares The Biggest Highlights of Dorohedoro Season 2

In a recent interview with Mantan Web, the voice actors for Caiman (Wataru Takagi) and Nikaido (Reina Kondo) talked about the new season of their show. Takagi explained that Season 2 really delves into the characters’ backstories and motivations, making the plot more intricate. He found it challenging to portray Caiman’s inner turmoil and his eventual self-discovery.
He added that while he doesn’t know exactly how much of the source material the second season will adapt, he believes it will be a rewarding experience for viewers. Because the animation wasn’t finished during recording, he’s particularly excited to see the final product from director Yuichiro Hayashi, and says he’s eagerly anticipating its release (laughing).
Caiman is relentlessly searching for the people who transformed him into a lizard-human hybrid. Haunted by nightmares and with no memory of his life before the transformation, he’s determined to discover the truth about his past. The new season follows his journey as he faces increasingly dangerous enemies and gets closer to answers. While the creator hasn’t revealed all the details, he promises that Season 2 will explore the characters’ backstories and how they connect to each other.
I’m so glad this manga is finished and available in its entirety! The whole story is collected across 23 volumes, and the best part is, they’ve all been translated into English! If you’re looking to grab a copy, Viz Media’s official website has links to both the physical books and the digital versions.
