Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft are adding a big update to Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO with the new Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC. It includes over 30 new characters, plus fresh customization options and stages. A free update launching at the same time will also introduce a completely revamped battle system. You can see a preview of everything in the trailer below.
The upcoming Super Limit-Breaking NEO update for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO will introduce a host of new playable characters, including Super 17, Bardock (Super Saiyan), Champa, Demon King Piccolo, Pikkon, Nam, Tora, Supreme Kai, Uub (Kid), King Vegeta, and Vegeta (GT). Alongside returning favorites, several of these characters will be appearing in a Budokai Tenkaichi series game for the very first time.
The new downloadable content (DLC) will add over 20 customization options, including costumes and skills. This lets players change how their characters play and recreate famous moments from Dragon Ball, especially with the new characters being added.
The upcoming game Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is adding four new stages, including famous locations like Kami’s Palace. One stage, Stratosphere (Planet Vegeta), is based on the classic 1990 special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku.
Players who prefer to play alone will enjoy a new mode called Limit Breaker Journey. This mode lets you connect with the game’s characters through a series of unique stories and challenges. You’ll be able to battle, train, and experience key moments from their backgrounds. Completing these scenarios will earn you special rewards, and any progress you make will also benefit your online multiplayer game.
Originally released in October 2024, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has received ongoing support since launch. In October 2025, Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft highlighted the game’s large character roster—208 at the time—with a new trailer. The game started with 182 playable characters and expanded through downloadable content, adding characters from series like Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Dragon Ball Daima. Shallot, a character from Dragon Ball Legends, was also made available.
Fans of Dragon Ball have more to look forward to! In October 2025, an update for the fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ was announced. The update will add Super Saiyan 4 Goku, as seen in the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima. Along with the new character, the game received a balance patch with several changes, including a new mechanic called Z Reflect. Z Reflect allows most characters (excluding Videl) to parry physical attacks with precise timing, briefly freezing the screen and creating an opening for a counterattack.
You can play Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and the new Switch 2 console.
