After eight years off the air, Dragon Ball Super is coming back with a new season! The announcement was made at a special event called Genki Dama Matsuri in January 2026, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Ball manga. The original Dragon Ball Super anime finished in 2018 with the exciting Tournament of Power arc. Although fans have been waiting for a continuation, the series released Dragon Ball Daima in October 2024 as an alternative.
Akira Toriyama’s final work, Daima, was widely praised by fans for its thrilling story and the return of Super Saiyan 3 and 4 transformations. With Dragon Ball Super set to continue with a new story arc, excitement is building. However, the English voice actor for Vegeta has suggested he may be retiring from the role, adding to the anticipation and uncertainty surrounding the series.
Vegeta’s Voice Actor May Not Be a Part of Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol

Christopher Sabat, the English voice actor for Vegeta, recently discussed the possibility of stepping down from his role in an interview with Polygon. When asked about his involvement in Galactic Patrol, he stated he’d like to continue voicing Super as long as he’s able, but ultimately, the future is uncertain.
He says he expects they’ll continue to use his character, but he’s okay if they don’t. He’s played the role for 25 years and feels very lucky to have done so. While he’d be disappointed to see the show end, he understands that changes happen.
After playing the character for 25 years, Sabat is prepared to step down if the studio chooses not to renew his contract. He also explained that performing the intense vocal work is becoming physically demanding, causing pain not just in his throat, but also in his back and shoulders due to the muscle strain.
He acknowledges that voicing Vegeta is very tiring, but he plans to keep doing it for as long as he’s physically able and the producers will have him.
Christopher Sabat is a highly respected voice actor famous for bringing iconic characters to life, including Roronoa Zoro in One Piece, All Might in My Hero Academia, and Piccolo in Dragon Ball. He’s discussed the challenges of continuing in these roles and even hinted at possible retirement, but hasn’t made any firm decisions. The new anime, Galactic Patrol, is still in development, and a trailer or cast announcement hasn’t been made yet, meaning fans will have to wait to find out who will be voicing the English dub.
Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol Will Take Goku and Vegeta on a New Journey

Following the Tournament of Power where Goku and his friends saved the universe, the story shifts to the Galactic Patrol Saga (also known as the Moro Arc). This arc centers on Goku and Vegeta teaming up with the Galactic Patrol to stop Moro, an incredibly powerful, ancient wizard who eats entire planets. Moro is one of the strongest enemies Dragon Ball has ever seen, and Goku and Vegeta must become significantly stronger if they want to defeat him and send him back to prison.
I’ve been following the news about the upcoming anime, and it looks like it’ll only cover about 26 chapters of the story, meaning it’s likely to be a short season. As of right now, there’s no word on whether the anime will continue beyond the Galactic Patrol Saga. It doesn’t seem like we’ll be seeing it released this year, and given the recent announcement and the focus on the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus remake, I don’t expect any significant updates about the Galactic Patrol Saga until at least the second half of 2026.
