Dragon Ball Super Artist Returns With New Goku vs. Vegeta Promo

Although Dragon Ball Super has been taking a lengthy break due to Akira Toriyama’s passing and an indefinite hiatus from Shueisha, fans have patiently waited for its comeback, eager to see what new stories will unfold. Recently, the artist responsible for the series has delighted fans with an exciting showdown between Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta.

It’s unlikely that Dragon Ball Super will resume its storyline soon, as the creators at Shueisha and Dragon Ball are figuring out how to move forward without Akira Toriyama’s direct involvement. However, even with the series currently on hold, artist Toyotaro has been able to keep the essence of the series alive by creating amazing new art pieces. Recently, Toyotaro shared a fantastic sketch of Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta during Jump Victory Carnival 2025, which fans can check out below as posted by @cliffeur on X.

Is Dragon Ball Super Ever Coming Back?

The popular anime series Dragon Ball Super, following the passing of its creator Akira Toriyama last year, has yet to show any signs of resuming production. Earlier this summer, a one-shot chapter was released as a special, but it was an adaptation of leftover material that Toyotaro couldn’t incorporate during the initial run of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Though technically new content, it still reflected ideas left behind by Toriyama. It is possible for the series to continue, but there is currently no indication of when this might occur.

On various occasions, Toyotaro has shared his intention to carry on with “Dragon Ball Super”. At Japan Expo 2025 this month, he clarified to the fans that while Toriyama provided assistance with the storylines, it’s primarily Toyotaro who spearheads the new tales depicted in the Granolah the Survivor and Planet Eater Moro arcs. Although he acknowledged it would be challenging without Toriyama’s guidance, Toyotaro remains open to continuing the series.

What Would Dragon Ball Super’s Future Even Look Like?

Despite manga artist Toyotaro’s enthusiasm for continuing “Dragon Ball Super”, there won’t be any new chapters this year, as confirmed by Victory Uchida during the Jump Victory Carnival 2025. This news has left fans disappointed, especially those who have been eagerly anticipating a return of the franchise with fresh stories. Unfortunately, they will have to remain patient for any future updates.

The tale continues when Dragon Ball Super resumes, and here’s a twist: Black Frieza emerged as the mightiest warrior in Universe 7 by the finale of the Granolah the Survivor saga. This development sets the stage for the iconic villain to dominate the series again. At the moment, Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Broly are honing their skills together on Beerus’ planet. So, when Dragon Ball Super eventually returns, it might push these characters to new levels of power that fans have never witnessed before. There’s also a chance that the anime could make a comeback after everything is concluded.
