After a wait of over eight years, Dragon Ball Super is returning to television! To celebrate, new looks at Goku and Vegeta have been revealed. The series originally concluded its run following the Tournament of Power, but will be back later this year with a remake of the Battle of Gods arc. This is just the beginning of a fresh wave of Dragon Ball Super anime.
Dragon Ball Super is looking to refresh the series with a new direction for the anime. This will start with a remake of the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus arc, followed by a completely new story arc. Goku and Vegeta will, of course, be central to this new era, and they’ve received updated character designs. Toei Animation is showcasing these changes at AnimeJapan 2026, and fans have spotted the new looks online, as well as in some recently revealed statues.

Fans are excited to see fresh versions of Goku and Vegeta as Dragon Ball Super moves into a new phase. An official remake series, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, is coming, covering the Battle of Gods story arc. This version will feature improved visuals, sound, and overall production quality to match current anime standards. It’s set to premiere in Japan this fall, but a specific release date and international streaming details haven’t been revealed yet.
This remake promises significant changes, including newly edited scenes, completely re-done visuals, updated voice acting with new music and sound, and a rebuilt storyline. Essentially, it feels like a brand new version of the anime. This is exciting news, especially with Dragon Ball Super returning for another season that continues the story after the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly and the Tournament of Power.
Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol Will Bring Goku and Vegeta Back to Anime
A new Dragon Ball Super anime movie, titled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is in the works. While a release date and who’s working on it haven’t been announced yet, the movie will adapt the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ arc from the Dragon Ball Super manga. This story arc, currently only available in the manga, follows the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly and features Goku and Vegeta facing a formidable new enemy called Planet Eater Moro.
Fans of Dragon Ball Super can expect to see these characters with updated looks in future episodes. Plus, with another story arc from the manga possibly being adapted into anime, Dragon Ball Super looks set to continue for a good while longer.
