Ultra Instinct is easily the most impressive transformation ever shown in Dragon Ball, and the new Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime will feature a lot more of it. After a long wait since Dragon Ball Super finished, the anime is returning to cover the next big story arc from the manga. This new arc happens after both the Tournament of Power and the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, meaning Goku can currently use the Ultra Instinct transformation.
Although Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Dragon Ball Daima were strong additions to the Dragon Ball series, they didn’t showcase the full extent of Goku’s power. Fans have eagerly awaited more of Ultra Instinct Goku since the original anime concluded, and the upcoming Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc promises to deliver, as Goku learns to master this powerful form.
Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol Will Feature More of Ultra Instinct Goku
The new movie, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, will cover the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ storyline from the Dragon Ball Super manga. This story introduces Moro, a powerful new villain who is the strongest opponent Goku and Vegeta have ever battled. The fight with Moro pushes Goku to improve his Ultra Instinct technique, a powerful form he briefly accessed during his fight with Jiren, and he’s now focusing his training on fully mastering it.
Like with Dragon Ball Super previously, Goku briefly achieved a powerful form of Ultra Instinct during the Tournament of Power, but it wasn’t fully realized because he hadn’t fully adapted to it. The upcoming story arc will focus on both Goku and Vegeta striving to become stronger, and for Goku, that means exploring different versions of Ultra Instinct as he works towards complete mastery.
When Does Dragon Ball Super’s New Anime Come Out?

A major focus of the upcoming ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ arc will be Goku’s training and his evolving use of Ultra Instinct, showing the form in a completely new light. However, fans will have to wait to see it – the arc isn’t expected to premiere until at least 2027. Before that, a remake of the ‘Battle of Gods’ arc, titled ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’, is scheduled to air this fall.
If the anime remakes several more story arcs, the new Dragon Ball Super series might not be released until late 2028. While a reimagining of the Battle of Gods arc could arrive this fall, it would likely be followed by adaptations of the Resurrection F, Universe 6, and Tournament of Power arcs. Considering all this, fans may have a long wait, but at least we can look forward to seeing more of Ultra Instinct.
