Gohan quickly became a fan favorite character after his introduction in Dragon Ball Z. This sequel series, which makes up over half of the overall story, began airing in 1989. It picks up after a period of peace where Goku is living with his wife, Chi-Chi, and their young son, Gohan, who was four years old at the time. Goku named his son after his adoptive grandfather, who had passed away when Goku was a child. Gohan initially charmed viewers with his adorable appearance and intelligence. But it didn’t take long for fans to discover that this half-Saiyan possessed an incredible talent for martial arts, potentially surpassing even his father’s abilities.
Gohan quickly found himself caught up in battles with alien invaders and pushed himself through intense training to grow stronger. Though Goku is the main hero of the series, Gohan has repeatedly exceeded his father’s power and frequently taken center stage.
3) Gohan Unlocks His True Potential in The Saiyan Saga

It was shocking when young Gohan, a crying four-year-old missing his father, unleashed such incredible strength. Seeing Goku defeated by Raditz filled him with anger and sorrow, and he struck a powerful blow that seriously injured the villain. Though Goku and Piccolo teamed up, they were struggling until Gohan’s surprising attack turned the tide. Sadly, they won at a great cost – Goku’s life. Piccolo then took Gohan with him to begin a rigorous training period, preparing for the arrival of more Saiyans on Earth.
2) Gohan Is The First Super Saiyan to Reach a Second Level

Goku had already become stronger than his father, Bardock, even before achieving Super Saiyan 2, as demonstrated during their training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. He believed Gohan was Earth’s best hope against Cell. During the Cell Games, Gohan initially struggled, but witnessing Cell torment his friends pushed him to his limit. The brutal killing of Android 16 finally unleashed his full power. This resulted in a particularly rewarding moment for viewers, as Gohan, a child Cell underestimated, powerfully defeated him.
1) Ultimate Gohan’s Power Was Unparalleled

The Z Fighters encountered their most dangerous enemy when Buu was released by Babidi. With guidance from Elder Kai, Gohan reached his full power, becoming even stronger than Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 form – and he didn’t even need to transform to achieve it. This powerful state is often called “Mystic Gohan,” but its official name is “Ultimate Gohan.” He was easily capable of defeating Super Buu, but a lack of battle experience and a single mistake led to a disappointing loss.
