Team Four Star’s Dragon Ball Z Abridged is famous in the anime community for its funny and creative retelling of the classic Dragon Ball Z story. After finishing the original series, the creators briefly revisited the Majin Buu Saga with another YouTuber, “Totally Not Mark.” Now, Team Four Star has launched a new abridged series, this time based on a popular show from Toonami.
Team Four Star has released the first part of their abridged parody of Sailor Moon, titled “Toonami Abridged – Sailor Moon.” It’s currently unknown how many parts the series will have, but given the length of the original anime, it could be quite a long run. This first installment covers a lot of ground, introducing the Sailor Scouts, Tuxedo Mask, and the villains they face. Although there are no announcements of a new Sailor Moon anime, this parody should keep fans entertained in the meantime.
Team Four Star’s Dragon Ball Influence

I’ve been following Team Four Star’s Dragon Ball Z Abridged for years, and it’s amazing what they’ve built. Because it’s a parody, they can’t make money from ads on YouTube, but they’ve found clever ways to fund their work through merchandise and original content. It was a huge surprise when Toei Animation actually brought the team onto the official English dub – they even voiced some fake Z-Fighters during a re-creation of the Cell Games! While it’s probably not going to become an official series, Team Four Star has definitely made a big impact on the anime community.
The future of Sailor Moon, a hugely popular anime series for girls, is currently unknown. The latest installment, the two-part movie Sailor Moon Cosmos, adapted the final arc of the original manga. If the series gets another animated adaptation, it will likely either be a retelling of the very first story or venture into completely new storylines. However, the continued popularity of Sailor Moon – demonstrated by Team Four Star’s comedic take on Usagi Tsukino’s world – proves it remains a significant force in anime.
