Dragon Ball games are consistently huge sellers, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is no exception – it’s selling incredibly well right now.
Dragon Ball Kakarot, first launched on PlayStation 4 in 2020 and updated for PlayStation 5 in 2023, has now reached 10 million copies sold. This is up from 8 million copies sold last summer.
This game is likely one of the best-selling Dragon Ball titles of all time, putting it in the same league as Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 and Dragon Ball FighterZ, which have each sold over 10 million copies.
These three games are all pretty distinct. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a traditional fighting game, while Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is more of a cooperative action game with missions and ongoing updates. Dragon Ball Kakarot, on the other hand, is a single-player action RPG.
We suppose it just goes to show the seemingly everlasting global strength of Dragon Ball as a brand.
We’re continuing to support Kakarot, and the newest downloadable content, DAIMA: Adventure Through The Demon Realm Part 2, will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in just a few days.
So, the big question is whether we’ll see another game like Kakarot. While sales figures hint that a sequel is likely, the existing game’s extensive downloadable content makes us wonder what stories it could tell next.
A new game continuing the story of Dragon Ball Super seems logical, but surprisingly, Super‘s content hasn’t been featured much in Dragon Ball games so far.
