Square Enix is planning to reintroduce the classic game, “Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past,” in a fresh PS5 edition that promises a revamp. The game will be available from February 5th, 2026, and you can watch the premiere trailer above.
In the revamped version of Dragon Quest 7, you’ll find captivating diorama graphics, enhanced gameplay mechanics, and a smoother, easier-to-follow storyline. The main plot has been restructured for new players’ convenience, and will now unfold through a collection of interconnected stories that together form one cohesive tale.

In a new update, the battle system has been significantly improved with added job benefits, tweaked battle speeds, and an automatic battle feature. Essentially, this means that battles can flow smoothly from one turn to another based on the strategies chosen for the main character and their allies. When out in the field, players have the ability to pre-emptively strike enemies and instantly defeat them if they are weaker than the party.
