Square Enix announced that the upcoming Dragon Quest 7 remake, launching next year, will not only have a revised story to make things flow better, but also a completely new ending.
In a recent interview with Game Informer, producer Takeshi Ichikawa shared new details about the upcoming RPG.
So, the story in this new version, [Reimagined], is basically the one we all know, but get this – my choices as a player actually matter! Ichikawa said that depending on what I do, I can unlock a totally new ending that nobody’s ever seen before in any of the previous games. That’s pretty awesome!
Even players familiar with older versions of Dragon Quest VII will enjoy a completely new story experience with Reimagined.
It makes you curious about how much of a difference this new ending will really make. While past Dragon Quest games have offered slightly different storylines, they typically just added extra dungeons or bosses after the main game, leading to an extended, ‘true’ ending.
Ichikawa’s comments hint that things might be a little complicated, particularly due to how players make decisions.
It remains to be seen exactly how the story of Reimagined will unfold. The remake definitely intends to deviate from the original, but the extent of those changes is still unknown.
