Dubai Cracks Down on Crypto Scamps-Investors, Hold Onto Your Hats!

Well now, it seems the big bosses over at the Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority, or VARA for those who like their acronyms as thick as molasses, have finally decided to wag their finger at KuCoin and MEXC. Yes sir, they’ve slapped a proper “cease and desist” on those slick crypto fellas.

The fine folks at VARA claim they caught wind that these trading platforms might be peddling virtual assets to Dubai residents without the proper papers, or worse, spinning a yarn about how “legal” they really are.

For all you innocent investors and hapless consumers out there, VARA reminds you in the kindest possible way that poking around unlicensed crypto outfits is about as safe as juggling rattlesnakes on a tightrope.

“Dabbling with companies that don’t toe the VARA line, or haven’t bothered with the rulebooks and UAE laws, can land you knee-deep in financial quicksand or even bring down the long arm of the law upon your head.”

Apparently, KuCoin doesn’t hold a lick of a license in Dubai, which makes all their crypto dealings about as legitimate as a three-dollar bill. In short, they’ve been playing hopscotch over VARA regulations.

VARA, ever the diligent overseer, rolled out this whole licensing hoopla four years ago. Any crypto cowboy wants to operate in Dubai, they’ve got to show their papers or pack their bags.

And just to keep everyone on their toes, the day before KuCoin got its knuckles rapped, MEXC found itself on the same naughty list. Seems the regulators have a taste for symmetry-or maybe just enjoy saying “cease and desist” more than a cat enjoys knocking things off shelves.
