Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and other leading actors from Denis Villeneuve’s Dune will return for the third and final movie, but one of the stars has shared that she won’t have a large role this time around.
Rebecca Ferguson, currently starring in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, recently shared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that her character, Lady Jessica, almost didn’t make it into the movie.
She said she’s only just started exploring the project and doesn’t want to comment on it yet, but hinted that fans have a lot to look forward to.
I loved the script, it’s really good, and I think the movie will be fantastic,” she said. “Originally, my character’s story focused on the first two parts. I didn’t even think she’d be in the third part at all. Then Denis [Villeneuve] decided he needed one scene with her, so I got one scene.”

Lady Jessica, Paul Atreidis’ mother, was a key character in the first two Dune movies. However, she isn’t in the novel the third film is based on, Dune Messiah. It will be fascinating to see how the filmmakers include her, even if it’s just a short appearance.
Ferguson described a strange experience filming a small role, explaining it felt odd being on a familiar set while not actively participating in the main production.
People are really feeling the fear of missing out, and there’s a growing sense of just accepting things as they are. Ultimately, you have to focus on telling the story.
The third Dune movie is planned to come out on December 18th, 2026, the same day as the new Avengers film, ‘Doomsday’. A trailer for Dune: Part Three should be available today, March 17th.
Before the trailer dropped, new posters revealed the key characters in the movie. These included returning favorites like Paul, played by Timothée Chalamet, and Zendaya as Chani, as well as new characters like Robert Pattinson’s Scytale, a villain with the ability to change shape.

At an event last month, Timothée Chalamet shared some exciting clues about the next Dune movie.
He explained that the impressive visuals in this film come from allowing the actors to move and make choices freely. He also praised his collaboration with director Denis Villeneuve, noting they found a great working pace and that this installment is particularly unsettling and ambitious.
We can’t wait!
