In mid-August, SNEG is planning to make available once more the real-time strategy game Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard and action RPG Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone on PC through Steam, as per their recent announcement.
The game “Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard,” initially released in the year 2005, followed by “Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone” which was launched a year prior in 2004, are both now re-released with enhanced gameplay, compatibility for current resolutions, and various upgrades.
Here is an overview of each game, via SNEG:
Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard
About
First released in 2005, Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard is back with an updated re-release that tastefully updates the original game for modern systems: it now supports higher resolutions, offers localization-friendly save files and profiles, improves timers and physics, is compatible with ASLR technology, and includes various other technical improvements to deliver a smoother experience on today’s computers.
In the fantastical realm of Eberron, which is renowned within the Dungeons & Dragons universe, lies Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard. This game offers a unique blend of experiences – real-time strategy action intertwined with the excitement and risks of a role-playing game (RPG) setting beneath the surface. As players guide their troops across the land, they also lead smaller groups underground into an RPG-inspired world filled with creatures, combat, and treasures. The rewards and experiences gained below ground can significantly enhance powers and abilities above ground. With magic, weapons, and tactical maneuvers at your disposal, you command armies from diverse races to either seize control, protect, or annihilate the Heart of Siberys. Harnessing this omnipotent artifact will unleash its immense powers, whether they be good or evil, across the entire world.
Key Features
- The first Dungeons & Dragons real-time strategy experience.
- Dungeons & Dragons game from the Eberron campaign setting.
- Game design with two levels of interconnected action: real-time strategy war above ground and critical RPG-styled battles in dungeons below.
- Four ranges of controllable units: powerful champions, heroic captains, trainable henchmen, and nearly unstoppable battlefield juggernauts.
- Unit development based on ‘Experience Points’, allowing players to “level up” units—an added RPG twist to the classic real-time strategy gameplay structure.
- An innovative village grid system – the “Nexus System”—where choice and placement of buildings can specifically affect units’ powers.
- Three warring factions, each with its own history, campaigns, unique strengths… and weaknesses.
- Game story by Eberron creator Keith Baker.
- A variety of threatening environments, all with the “Hyper Terrain” feature, creating real-time terrain deformation in the wake of unit movements.
