It’s been several years since Baldur’s Gate 3 came out, and fans are now wondering what the next major Dungeons & Dragons video game will be. Although there’s no official word on a Baldur’s Gate 4 or another traditional RPG based on the game, a new D&D video game is indeed coming soon. Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked was revealed earlier this year, and players will soon have a chance to try it out for the first time.
This new D&D strategy game is designed to connect players for grand adventures. It utilizes the Demeo Action Roleplaying system, delivering quick, turn-based gameplay that’s more dynamic than a typical virtual tabletop experience. A particularly appealing feature of Battlemarked is its DM-free format, allowing everyone to participate in the story without any prior setup. Plus, Wizards of the Coast just announced that the game’s initial demo will be available during Steam Next Fest, beginning on October 13th.
What to Expect from the First Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked Demo
Steam Next Fest is a thrilling event packed with demos of upcoming games for players to try. It takes place from October 13th to October 20th, and the Battlemarked demo will be available throughout the entire event. This gives D&D fans a chance to experience the game without spending any money. Plus, if you need more convincing than just “new D&D video game,” there’s a fresh trailer to celebrate the demo and showcase even more of what Battlemarked offers:
If the gameplay trailer piqued your interest, here’s an update on what we know about the Steam Next Fest demo. The Battlemarked demo will include “parts of two challenging quests” taken from the initial campaign in Battlemarked. It won’t be the complete story, but it should give you a good idea of the narrative you can expect in the full game. Also, not all characters will be playable in the demo. Players can select from four different character choices in this D&D demo:
- Bolthrax – a dragonborn paladin with a temper
- Tibby – a halfing sorcerer
- Jessic – a human ranger with a vengeance
- Ash – a tiefling rogue with a checkered past
When the game officially releases, you’ll be able to play as six different characters – which is great if you enjoyed the demo! You can see the game’s multiplayer in action during Steam Next Fest, and you’ll have the chance to team up with up to three friends to explore the Neverwinter Wood.

In addition to a first preview of the game, Resolution Games and Wizards of the Coast are adding a bonus. Players who finish both demo levels will receive exclusive Battlemarked items when the game launches. Completing the entire demo will unlock two unique skins for the game’s D20s.
Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked is launching on November 20th, 2025. You’ll be able to play it on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and MetaQuest. A demo will be available during Steam Next Fest, running from October 13th to 20th, but only on PC.
