Rylee Arnoldaccidentally fumbled one part of her routine.
About a year since the professional dancer from ‘Dancing With the Stars’ revealed her Type 1 diabetes, she recently described a nerve-wracking incident where she inadvertently left her insulin at home during a trip.
Rylee, on a July 31 TikTok video, shared that she’d boarded a plane and was searching frantically for her insulin because her blood sugar levels were rising, only to find out later that she had forgotten it at her apartment.
In the title of their post, the 20-year-old questioned, “I’ve never done this to myself before, but since it’s only a brief journey, maybe I should just drink lots of water instead?
As the one who proudly shared the podium with Olympic athlete Stephen Nedoroscik during season 33, I felt a moment of unease, but then, just a few hours later, I was eager to share some encouraging news.
The dancer conveyed, “I’m doing great!,” followed by, “As soon as I arrived, I received my insulin dose, and since I was famished, I had a large meal.
In her comment, she mentioned, “The one issue is that I’m extremely exhausted due to my elevated blood sugar levels, but no worries because we found a solution! Love you all.
For Rylee, going through these types of stressful moments have showed her a new side of herself.
In a conversation with Woman’s World, she shared, “The diagnosis was tough, demanding patience and a shift in perspective, but it has undeniably strengthened me and added maturity to my life.” She further explained, “I’ve learned to tackle conflicts and difficult situations more effectively, as I’ve navigated the challenges and complexities of living with Type 1 diabetes.
Plus, Rylee sees her diagnosis as a way to encourage others forward.
She went on saying that each day, her motivation stems from the desire to inspire others. Specifically, she aspires to inspire young individuals or anyone managing diabetes. This daily motivation comes from knowing she’s not only working for herself but also for those who look up to her.

Nick Jonas, when he feels like it, can confidently visit a Waffle House while keeping a close eye on his blood sugar levels.
One of the Jonas Brothers band members has gained significant public recognition as a high-profile celebrity living with Type 1 diabetes. His diagnosis, which occurred when he was just 13 years old, happened just before the sibling group became popular on the Disney Channel and released their debut album titled “It’s About Time” in 2006.
In time, Nick was among those who established the charitable entity known as Beyond Type 1. According to their website, this organization strives to redefine life with long-term illness by connecting the journey from diagnosis to a potential cure, providing individuals the tools to live fulfilling lives now and financing a brighter tomorrow.
Ever since Nick received his diagnosis, both Kevin and Joe have been standing by him, supporting him through managing his health, all while maintaining their busy rock-and-roll lifestyle.
Nick shared with TODAY.com in 2023 that they are incredibly supportive and help make it easier for him. They realize that if he’s irritable for a while, it might be due to high glucose levels. Instead of getting upset, they offer understanding or ensure that if his blood sugar is dropping, he has quick access to juice or whatever he needs immediately.
Although most individuals diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes receive their diagnosis during childhood, an astonished Lance Bass was diagnosed at the age of 40.
In a 2024 Instagram post, the former member of *NSYNC explained that he had been initially mistakenly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but it turned out he actually had type 1.5 diabetes.
At first, Lance shared that he struggled significantly to maintain his blood sugar levels in check, despite modifying his diet, medication schedule, and exercise regimen. He expressed frustration, stating, “It just didn’t seem to make sense.
Currently, he sports a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitor on his person. This device takes readings of blood sugar levels every few minutes and notifies a phone or receiver if the levels are changing quickly. This gives him an opportunity to consume more carbohydrates if the levels are dropping too swiftly or administer additional insulin if they’re rising excessively.
In the meantime, Lance and spouse Michael Turchin’s three-year-old twins, Alexander and Violet, have become curious about Lance’s diabetes care routines, often pretending to be doctors while playing at home.
He mentioned his blood glucose monitor, describing it as a tiny protruding needle that captivates everyone he shows it to. There’s no fear associated with it for them. He repeatedly explains why he uses it and what diabetes entails, though he’s unsure of how much they grasp. However, he believes they will eventually understand.
In the performance at a Haim concert, where Este Haim was visibly wearing a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM), she shared insights about how managing Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) has influenced her romantic relationships.
In an interview with British GQ in June 2025, she shared that a man ended their relationship after she mentioned the potential for our child to develop diabetes. He responded, “Then why are we together?” which left her bewildered, saying, “What?!
However, this wasn’t the first occasion where Haim faced discouraging responses due to her long-term health condition, a struggle she’s been managing since her diagnosis at the age of 14.
In 2019, she shared with Beyond Type 1 that she had been largely shunned by society for an extended period. Essentially, she was the child at school who would faint without warning, and people didn’t understand why, as well as the girl who always seemed to have a strong aroma of orange juice due to her diabetes.
It’s fortunate for Este Haim that her siblings, Danielle and Alana, have been reliably present throughout her tour life, acting as her support system. “I consider myself fortunate to have them,” Haim expressed, “and on those tough days, or even weeks or months, they’re the ones who always reassure me, ‘Don’t worry, we’ve got you.’ They offer whatever help I need, promising to help us pull through and suggesting healthier choices when needed. For instance, they remind me not to indulge in pizza after performances, encouraging me to opt for a balanced meal instead, to maintain my blood sugar levels.
Bret Michaels has detailed the thorns poking out of his rosy career.
Back in June 2025, the lead singer of Poison shared on Instagram his insights about how his life with Type 1 diabetes could influence his concert plans following a health incident.
As someone who’s lived with diabetes since I was six, there are times when its ups and downs really take a toll on me. Last night, I stepped onto the stage to show myself and the fans that I could push through. I even threw in a few extra songs to prove it. However, as I walked off the stage, my blood sugar level was a staggeringly low 39, a harsh reminder of the battle I’m constantly fighting.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), a blood sugar level of 70 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) is considered low for individuals with Type 1 Diabetes, and serious low blood sugar starts at 54 mg/dL.
He assured his fans, “In the coming days, I will be dedicating the necessary time.” He added, “I apologize in advance if any show dates need adjusting while I handle this situation properly.
That’s not to say, Michaels hasn’t taken plenty of precautions along his decades-spanning career.
In 2024, Michael shared with People that upon waking, he immediately checks his continuous glucose monitor. Afterward, he administers an injection, followed promptly by getting up for a workout regimen. Regardless of how I’m feeling, this routine helps balance my blood sugar levels.
He mentioned, “Then I dive right into the excitement and the hustle of the day, and strive to approach each day as such.
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have been remarkable in dealing with their son Miles’ Type 1 diabetes diagnosis.
The author of the cookbook titled “Cravings” was taken aback when they found out about their Type-1 Diabetes (T1D) diagnosis, which happened while Miles was being treated in a hospital for an unrelated health problem. On Instagram in July 2024, she shared that many young children are diagnosed with T1D this way – going to the hospital for something else entirely.
Chrissy Teigen, who is a mother to Luna, Esti, and Wren, later expressed her motivation to advocate for early screening of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) due to this experience. She was astonished to discover that she wasn’t aware of the screening option when she first had children, as she has four kids in total. During none of her pregnancies did she learn about early screening, which she emphasized could have made a significant impact. This statement was made during the Women’s Health Lab panel in May 2025.
In May 2024, a professional dancer from ‘Dancing With the Stars’ revealed her Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Since then, she has been candid about the resilience she’s gained from her journey.
In an interview with Woman’s World in July 2025, she shared, “Dealing with this challenging diagnosis has required much patience, reflection, and a shift in perspective. However, I believe it has made me stronger and more mature. It’s helped me manage conflicts and difficult situations in my life more effectively, as I’ve grown accustomed to the challenges that come with living with type one diabetes.
Furthermore, she expressed, “It significantly boosts my daily enthusiasm as I aspire to serve as a role model for others. My goal is to inspire individuals with diabetes, regardless of their age or type, knowing that this purpose fuels me every day.
Hoda Kotb got some breaking news about her daughter Hope in 2023.
Initially, the previous host of Today didn’t disclose that her youngest child had type 1 diabetes until after she stopped hosting the morning show on a regular basis.
She shared with her former cohosts Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie upon returning to Studio 1A in May 2025 that hope is generally acceptable, but there are instances when you need to keep a close eye on it. “I calculated it – five minutes at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, sometimes even overnight. When all added up, it amounts to half an hour,” she explained.
“So, for 23 and a half hours,” Kotb added. “She’s every other kid. So, I try to remember that.”
Lila Moss, daughter of fashion model Kate Moss, marked the launch of stylish diabetes-themed Barbie accessories that are revolutionary in design.
Mattel’s inaugural doll representing type 1 diabetes comes equipped with a continuous glucose sensor and an insulin pump, reflecting their partnership with Breakthrough T1D. As stated in a declaration from July 2025, this collaboration emphasizes understanding and inclusivity.
In honor of the launch, Mattel recognized two prominent figures living with Type 1 diabetes, fitness instructor Robin Arzón from Peloton and Moss, by creating unique dolls specifically for each of them.
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but express my feelings upon the unveiling of Barbie. In an Instagram post, I penned: “Being part of this unique endeavor has been nothing short of extraordinary! My hope is that it emboldens anyone managing Type 1 to wear their pump with pride and foster understanding about why we need them and what they do for us.
