At the Xbox @ Gamescom broadcast, it was revealed that Dying Light: The Beast features a new side mission. In this mission, protagonist Kyle Crane explores the plight of some survivors facing water-related issues. He embarks on a journey to the Industrial Pumping Station, navigating through abandoned structures using parkour and battling zombies on rooftops. You can catch a glimpse of this mission courtesy of GamersPrey, as shown below.
As a gamer, I can’t help but admit the brutal display of violence that erupts from every slashing strike. Chopping off a zombie’s leg might halt its direct approach, but it seems to have an uncanny knack for inching towards me with a relentless determination. Techland assures us an impressive arsenal of over 100 melee weapons, ranging from machetes and wrenches to hammers, crowbars, and even secret stashes of medieval swords, katanas, and customizable options.
In addition to other firearms like a grenade launcher, you might stumble upon a flamethrower, a new addition to the franchise, during your gameplay. As Kyle departs from the town, he comes face-to-face with a swarm of zombies on a bridge. He manages to eliminate several before making his escape off the bridge. In a pumping station, he changes weapons to an assault rifle, mowing down the undead while simultaneously monitoring the water pressure.
Whenever I unleash “The Beast,” I can shred apart zombies using just my bare hands. Building up its meter through skillful dodges, taking damage, parrying, and melee attacks gives it an edge, even over powerful firearms. It’s worth getting a little messy, as the thrill of the fight makes it all worthwhile. The next destination is the Waterworks Repair Facility, where I hop into my vehicle and mow through hordes of zombies. Vehicles are a fresh addition, and while they excel at taking down the undead horde, it’s essential to keep an eye on the damage sustained and fuel levels.
In the cover of darkness, as I fast-forward into nighttime, I find myself up against those relentless Volatiles hot on my heels. One’s enough to give me a run for my money, but multiple ones chasing me? That’s a whole different ball game!
Thankfully, I’ve got Beast Mode in my arsenal. It gives me an edge during these high-speed pursuits, allowing me to sprint faster and jump higher – a lifesaver when you’re being hunted!
As I delve deeper into the game, my mastery over The Beast grows stronger. Now, I can summon it at will, not only helping me evade those pesky Volatiles but also unlocking some tantalizing secrets along the way.
The game titled “Dying Light: The Beast” is set to release on September 19th, initially on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC platforms. A subsequent launch will follow for PS4 and Xbox One at a later date.
