As the September 19 launch of “Dying Light: The Beast” approaches, the game’s developer Techland recently unveiled a new trailer for this upcoming title. Known as “Out in the Wild,” you can watch it below, and it offers insights into how “Dying Light: The Beast” will manage the melee combat and parkour systems that the series is famous for.
Techland has announced an upgrade to the parkour system in Dying Light: The Beast, emphasizing a more authentic and immersive experience for players. To achieve this, the game’s physics have been adjusted for accurate jump height and distance, eliminating any floaty sensation. Players are now able to traverse virtually anywhere, climb almost anything, and benefit from lifelike movement and physics that facilitate their exploration.
In addition, there’s a strong focus on freedom of exploration as players are free to roam wherever they choose. This flexibility also extends to navigating missions, allowing players to discover their own path if the surroundings permit it. Furthermore, stamina doesn’t hinder players when scaling larger structures; instead, they must rely on their intelligence and keen observation skills to reach greater heights. To sum up, Dying Light: The Beast will incorporate over 100 new parkour animations, including 17 unique animations for edge climbing.
In terms of combat, “Dying Light: The Beast” focuses on intense, raw confrontations that provide players with ample room for creativity. The revamped weapon mechanics offer stronger and more accurate swings and stops for a significant impact. Additionally, the new physics engine provides realistic enemy reactions, including brief animations and active ragdoll effects.
The opponents players will encounter will employ more intricate strategies, with up to 22 distinct approaches for maneuvering and utilizing cover mechanics. To allow for a greater degree of ruthlessness in player actions, a revised damage model enables the disabling of at least 12 separate enemy body parts. Additionally, enemies will exhibit double the number of visible injuries compared to the previous game.
Alongside the latest gameplay trailer, a new developer diary has been released, featuring technical game director Kacper Kwalczuk, senior animator Marcin Bahryn-Kamiński, and franchise director Tymon Smektała. They discuss the enhancements made to parkour and combat in the upcoming title, Dying Light: The Beast, compared to its predecessor, Dying Light 2 Stay Human. You can view it below for more details.
This week, Techland unveiled another amusing trailer showcasing various voice artists for character Kyle Crane in multiple languages. The hilarious clip revolves around the voice actors debating who truly embodies Kyle Crane, while a whopping 232 uses of the term are hurled, each uttered in a distinct language.
The game titled “Dying Light: The Beast” is set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S this month. Additionally, it’s being developed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but those versions do not currently have a specific launch date confirmed yet. The earlier-gen platforms are still in the works for release.
