Techland’s new release, *Dying Light: The Beast*, is proving to be a success. Analysis from Alinea Analytics shows the game has already sold over a million copies on Steam. When adding sales from other platforms – around 500,000 copies – total sales exceed 1.5 million.
A recent report from Alinea Analytics shows that the majority of players who purchased *Dying Light: The Beast* are already fans of the series. About 82% had previously played the original *Dying Light*, and around 77% had experience with *Dying Light 2 Stay Human*. This suggests a loyal fanbase is driving sales of the new content.
Looking at sales figures for other games, *Borderlands 4*, released earlier this month, sold around 337,000 copies. *Hollow Knight: Silksong* came in third with 255,000 copies sold. The rest of the top performers were mostly indie titles, including *Peak* (250,000 copies), *No, I’m Not a Human* (205,000 copies), and *Shape of Dreams* (167,000 copies). The only other major release in the chart was *EA Sports FC 26*, which sold about 132,000 copies.
The new expansion for *Dying Light*, called *The Beast*, came out last week on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Before its release, Techland announced that the expansion had already received over a million pre-orders. Tymon Smektala, the director of the *Dying Light* series, expressed gratitude to the game’s fans for their enthusiasm.
We’ve moved up the release date for Dying Light: The Beast because of the incredible excitement from our players about Kyle Crane’s return and because we’re confident the game is ready,” said a representative from the development team. “We worked hard to make this happen, and we’re eager to see what players think when they experience the new content.
Leading up to its release, Techland shared several details about *Dying Light: The Beast*. In August, the game’s director, Nathan Lemaire, mentioned that the game would feature a very diverse open world – potentially the most diverse Techland has ever created.
Lemaire explained that they aimed for a more realistic feel while still introducing fresh environments. Castor Woods, the new setting, is the most varied world they’ve built for the game so far, featuring everything from a historic Old Town to industrial areas, farms, swamps, and a village. This variety ensures a unique experience in each distinct area.
