Koei Tecmo is commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Dynasty Warriors series by unveiling two significant new endeavors. A trailer was released to reveal these projects, and it turns out that the team is developing additional content for the current title in the series – Dynasty Warriors: Origins. This add-on has been characterized as a “large-scale” one. In addition, they have also initiated work on a remastered edition of a beloved classic game from the franchise.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the recently released 25th anniversary video! This incredible journey through the franchise’s history offers a glimpse into the past, featuring gameplay from some of the earliest titles, such as the groundbreaking “Dynasty Warriors 2” from the year 2000. This very title laid the foundation for the franchise we know and love today.
It’s fascinating to note that the original “Dynasty Warriors” bears little resemblance to the series as it stands now. Originally, it was a fighting game, but its sequel would go on to define the “musou” genre, transforming the franchise into what we cherish today. Enjoy the trip down memory lane!
Although Koei Tecmo has made some announcements, it hasn’t specified which classic “Dynasty Warriors” game will receive a remastered version yet. The video only refers to the project as “Dynasty Warriors ?”. The company also mentioned that these announcements are just the beginning of their celebration plans, with further special events to be revealed on their official website and social media channels.
In January, the newest installment in the series, titled “Dynasty Warriors: Origins“, hit the shelves. Alongside its launch, a trailer was unveiled, highlighting the post-game features it offers, such as customizing the background music for certain battle scenes and reforging Traits and Powers on weapons. Additionally, the trailer confirmed that the character Lu Bu will be back in this game, serving as a recruitable companion after specific conditions have been fulfilled.
The game titled “Dynasty Warriors: Origins” took off like a rocket from the start, achieving incredible success. Just a few days after its launch, it boasted nearly 70,000 simultaneous players on the PC version alone. This remarkable achievement placed “Dynasty Warriors: Origins” significantly ahead of its predecessors, “Dynasty Warriors 9” and “Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires”.
Koei Tecmo announced that the game achieved significant success within a month of its launch, with over a million copies sold across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, they revealed that their free demo was downloaded over 2 million times.
