A Holiday Promo that Goes Hard

In 2080, Japan grapples with a severe decrease in birth rates, making children an extremely valuable resource. Consequently, adolescence is artificially prolonged to maintain youthfulness. As this crisis deepens, Christmas has become nothing more than a long-forgotten tale because society believes Santa Claus has vanished, trapped by a curse. During a middle school altercation, Shiori Fuyumura accuses Kazushige Sanda of possessing the ability to locate Ono Ichie’s missing friend, a claim that translates to Sanda being the one with the power to transform into Santa Claus. As they unravel the mystery behind the curse and attempt to lift it, their journey aims to restore Christmas magic and find Ichie.

The realm of anime and manga is often known for its outlandish storylines that veer off in bizarre directions. And “Sanda” certainly falls into this category. Given Japan’s already distinctive perspective on Christmas, this series is particularly fitting, as it delves into a pessimistic view of how Japan’s decreasing birthrates might impact a holiday primarily centered around children. Despite the fact that commercialization of holidays in retail appears to start earlier every year, with “Sanda” being released before the actual holidays, this anime will undoubtedly put you in the holiday mood for anime fans.
