So, it looks like we’re skipping F1 26 this year. EA just announced that instead of a new game, F1 25 is getting a big expansion pack next year. They said F1 25 did really well, both with players and critics, so they’re adding all the new cars, teams, drivers, and rules changes as an add-on instead. Basically, it’s more content for the game we already have!
This is a major overhaul for the Codemasters racing series. A new game is planned for 2027, and it will be noticeably different from previous titles, offering players more options and addressing fan feedback. EA promises to keep the core elements that fans enjoy while delivering a completely new experience.
Lee Mather, creative director at Codemasters, shared that F1 25 has been a huge hit, thanks to enthusiastic fans and the exciting world of Formula 1. With the sport growing in popularity, they’re now focused on developing future games.
We are dedicated to the EA Sports F1 series. We’re building on this year’s success with plans for a 2026 update and a complete overhaul of the F1 experience in 2027, bringing more to players of all skill levels globally.
Following its recent $55 billion acquisition by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, Electronic Arts is already making changes. While the deal isn’t officially complete until the first three months of 2026, the company has begun a partnership with Stability AI. This collaboration aims to create new AI technology that will help EA’s creative teams develop content in innovative ways.
It’s still unclear how these changes will impact the next Formula 1 season. You can find a detailed review of F1 25 on our site. Currently, the game is in Season 4, and a new mode called Survival Challenge has been added, according to EA.
