EA Sports Skipping Standalone F1 Game in 2026, Will Return ‘Reimagined’ in 2027

For years, EA Sports and Codemasters have released Formula One games annually, but it seems like things are about to change.

The publisher revealed its future plans for the franchise: they won’t be releasing a new game in 2026. Instead, they’re completely rebuilding the series to make a major comeback in 2027.

Instead of a completely new F1 26 game, a paid expansion for F1 25 will be released to cover the 2026 season.

EA SPORTS has announced that the upcoming F1 25 game will feature cars and tracks from both the 2025 and 2026 Formula One seasons. They’ve also confirmed that a new F1 game will be released in 2027, promising a significantly improved and expanded experience for players.

F1 25 will be updated with the new cars, rules, teams, and drivers coming to the 2026 Formula 1 season. The price of this expansion pack hasn’t been announced yet.

The new premium update for F1 25 is a step towards a fresh start for the entire F1 game series. The developers plan to release a completely revamped game in 2027, offering a significantly different and more customizable gameplay experience.

According to Lee Mather, Codemasters’ senior creative director, the 2027 F1 game is being completely redesigned to offer a better experience for all players, no matter their skill level.

Codemasters’ F1 games have remained fairly consistent for many years, and this may be why they’ve decided to take an extra year to completely redesign the game and improve the overall experience.

This is a noteworthy announcement. Although some players might be sad there won’t be a new game in the coming year, we can hope the game planned for 2027 will be worth the wait.
