EA maintains that they have no intention of increasing the cost of their upcoming titles to $80, even though some game developers within the industry have made this move.
Initially, Nintendo led the way by releasing Mario Kart World at $80 as part of their Nintendo Switch 2 debut, and Microsoft planned to match this price with The Outer Worlds 2. However, in preparation for its late October release, Microsoft has decided to adjust The Outer Worlds 2’s price back to $70 to align it with current market trends.
Currently, Electronic Arts (EA) does not intend to raise prices for their video games, as stated by their CEO, Andrew Wilson, during their Q1 earnings conference. In other words, there are no plans for a price increase at this moment.
He went on to clarify that their company provides a wide range of pricing options for its different product lines. This spans from free-to-play all the way to premium products and deluxe editions. Their goal is to cater to a diverse pricing spectrum, ensuring they can best serve players and provide them with maximum value.
This aligns with statements from Wilson made in May, emphasizing that Electronic Arts aims to deliver exceptional quality and exponentially valuable experiences for our players, regardless of the product’s launch price.
Boasting an array of highly sought-after PS5 sports games and solo adventures like the upcoming Battlefield 6 and strategic Star Wars: Squadrons (Zero Company), it currently controls some of gaming’s most influential franchises. For now, these titles will retail at a top price of $70 for their standard editions.
Wilson stated that we will persistently explore ways to provide exceptional value to our players using different pricing strategies as time goes by. However, significant alterations are not expected at this point in time.
