Be warned: the EastEnders episode from January 7th, 2026, now available on BBC iPlayer, contains major spoilers.
Viewers of EastEnders were shocked to see Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) reappear in recent episodes, despite his character dying on New Year’s Day last year.
The BBC One soap opera has been exploring a troubling story of revenge involving Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) and his mother, Nicola (Laura Doddington). This stems from last year, when Ravi Gulati manipulated Harry and his friend Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho), leading to Harry being held captive, struggling with a relapse, and ultimately killing Tobias “Okie” Okyere (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu) while defending himself. Harry’s father, Teddy (Roland Manookian), then took the blame for Okie’s death.
Knowing Harry was determined to get revenge on Ravi – who avoided punishment for human trafficking by becoming a police informant – Nicola devised a new plan. She intended to drug Ravi with hallucinogens and lure him to the Arches, hoping Harry would then torment him there.
On Wednesday’s episode of the show, Ravi was upset when Priya and their kids went to his stepmother Suki’s house with Eve for a visit from the adoption agency.

Ravi went to Nicola’s nightclub and Harry’s Barn, where he joined a heartbroken Patrick Trueman for drinks. Nicola generously offered them each a free drink, but Ravi’s drink was secretly laced with something.
Ravi stumbled out of the club, and Harry guided him to a secluded area under the railway arches. Harry then started to mock Ravi, until his uncle, Billy Mitchell, made him stop. Billy didn’t realize that Harry had effectively trapped Ravi in that spot.
It was terrifying to think about, but down in that dark pit, Ravi started seeing and hearing things that weren’t real. He’d been shouting for help, and then, lost in the darkness, he thought he heard his father, Nish, saying no one was coming for him. It was heartbreaking to imagine him going through that, feeling so utterly alone and abandoned.
The episode concluded with a frightening scene: Ravi, played by Aaron Thiara, suddenly became terrified and started screaming.
The upcoming events will likely trigger a mental health crisis for Ravi, and he’ll also face difficulties because he’s now working as an informant.
Last year, actor Navin Chowdhry’s character, Nish, died after being pushed by his son, Ravi. This happened after years of Nish abusing and neglecting Ravi, and after Nish had planned to kill Suki and Eve.
Chowdhry was recognized for his voice acting in Wednesday’s show, but it remains to be seen what happens to Ravi in the next episode.
