EastEnders airs Max Branning’s dramatic return amid Lauren and Peter outcome in BBC iPlayer release

Please be advised: The following contains significant spoilers for the EastEnders episode that aired on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025. You can currently watch the episode on BBC iPlayer.

Max Branning (Jake Wood) is back in Walford after more than four years away. EastEnders delivered a typically eventful return for the well-known character, following his time away from the Square.

The episode continued right after Max’s daughter, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa), found out her fiancé, Peter Beale (Thomas Law), had secretly planned their wedding at The Queen Vic. Lauren was completely shocked and upset.

Even though Lauren was unsure about her future with Peter, she decided to go ahead and get married.

But, taking a moment alone after having her hair done, Lauren panicked, and decided to do a runner.

Outside, Stacey Slater (played by Lacey Turner), who used to be married to her brother, found her. Stacey was struggling with a big decision herself – she’d changed her mind about moving to Brazil.

I have to say, the scene between Stacey and Lauren really got to me. Stacey finally admitted she took Martin Fowler (the late James Bye) for granted, and the raw emotion of realizing she’ll never have another chance with him was incredibly powerful. It was a truly heartbreaking moment, and I think a lot of viewers will relate to that feeling of regret. It felt very real.

After Stacey asked Lauren if she loved Peter – and Lauren confirmed that she did – and advised her not to mistake feeling settled with being unhappy, Lauren reached her conclusion.

While the wedding guests were anxiously searching for Lauren, she unexpectedly came back home. Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) then quickly left, after humorously grumbling about how no one could keep track of her!

Back at the pub, Peter shared his wedding vows. When it was Lauren’s turn, she confessed she’d almost run away – but ultimately, she still had feelings for Peter.

Okay, so they were *finally* officially husband and wife, which was great. Lauren was super sweet and thanked Stacey for being there for her earlier, and then, honestly, she immediately told Stacey to get over to the ladies and try to catch the bouquet! It was a funny moment, you know, straight out of a rom-com.

Her flowers landed on the ground, just as Max walked through the door.

Picking up the bouquet, Max grinned, declaring: “Must be my lucky day!”

Watched on by a shocked Lauren and his ex-lover Stacey, Max certainly left the guests reeling.

Since no one currently knows about Max’s secret link to Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), what kind of reaction will he get when he arrives?

Let the chaos commence!
