EastEnders airs shock death, emotional Denise Fox scenes and Cindy Beale twist in early BBC iPlayer release

The dramatic events of ‘The Night That Changes Everything’ have finished in EastEnders, and things will likely never be the same for several of the characters.

While residents of Walford enjoyed a lock-in at The Queen Vic, George Knight (Colin Salmon) faced a difficult and angry showdown with his adoptive father, Eddie (Christopher Fairbank), who was behaving terribly and making racist remarks.

George finally understood that Eddie hadn’t truly changed, and had only pretended to reform in order to live more comfortably. He also realized that by letting Eddie stay with them, he’d put his daughter, Gina (Francesca Henry), in a position where she continued to experience racism.

Eddie had previously expressed doubts about Gina’s relationship with Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway). Today, Gina worried that their different backgrounds might prevent them from truly understanding each other. Harry comforted her, promising his unwavering support, and they shared a heartfelt confession of their love for one another.

Gina remained angry with George, not realizing he was trying to make things right. While they were talking about the past, Eddie revealed he’d killed George’s father, Henry, believing it would give George a better life.

He then made an utterly sickening comment.

George was shocked by what Eddie said and stepped back as Eddie got out of bed to take his medicine. Eddie started choking and tried to reach for water, but George deliberately wouldn’t give it to him, drinking it all himself instead.

When Nicola Mitchell arrived home, she found him deceased. George revealed he was aware she had been receiving money from Eddie in return for letting him stay with them.

Lauren Beale met her dad, Max Branning, in the town square to talk about her feelings for Mark Fowler. Max cautioned her against getting too involved, while secretly keeping his own recent encounter with Priya Nandra-Hart a secret.

Shortly after Lauren spoke to Max, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) revealed she wanted to get back together with him and still wanted to marry him. Max was thrilled, but he was increasingly troubled by the guilt of keeping his affair a secret.

Chelsea was at the hospital, watching over her son Jordan as he started his recovery from being hit by Ian Beale’s car.

Denise (Diane Parish) tried to reassure her son she was strong enough to support him, even though she was worried about her own future. She knew she needed to go home and tell her partner, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), about her diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia, a type of blood cancer.

He was sleeping when she entered the living room. When he woke up, he asked where she’d been all day. She quickly told him about her diagnosis, and he immediately began to cry.

Denise stepped outside into the Square Gardens, but unfortunately timed her walk. A private ambulance was parked at number one, and they were loading Eddie’s body into it.

Suddenly, she was faced with a harrowing reminder of her own mortality.

Will Denise get the treatment she needs?
