EastEnders recently showed a flashback to Halloween night in 1988, featuring the Moon family watching a creepy video tape.
Earlier this week, Alfie Moon, played by Shane Richie, discovered an old home video while sorting through a box of forgotten items in the barrel store.
Ross Marshall found someone he was looking for, and Alfie decided to take his family on a nostalgic visit to a spooky movie night at The Queen Vic pub.
Like many well-intentioned plans on the show, the gesture didn’t go as hoped. Kat worried her daughter, Zoe Slater, would get upset seeing her parents, so she decided to save the video for later.
As the party was in full swing, a shaky video started playing on the large screen – someone had put it on.

Zoe instantly spotted Harry, the man who was actually her father and had abused her mother, Kat, when she was a teenager. She reacted angrily, and they were all asked to leave the pub.
Just who was responsible for playing the VHS?
Okay, so in the latest episode, which you can watch right now, there’s this really strange moment. Anthony Trueman, played by Nicholas Bailey, comes out of the restroom at The Vic, and honestly? The place is deserted. It’s a total ghost town, and it immediately sets a really unsettling tone. I was left wondering where everyone went!
Zoe instantly blamed him for stalking her and vandalizing her family photos with fake blood.
He suggested to Kat that her daughter needed a psychological assessment before leaving.
After Anthony left, Zoe felt ready to finally watch the video and move on from the past. Her younger brother, Tommy (played by Sonny Kendall), helped her figure out the old equipment, and then they both sat down to watch memories of their mother’s childhood together.
Halloween 1988 was a difficult day for Kat. Her cousin, Harry, unexpectedly returned from Spain and, in a way that made Kat and her younger sisters uncomfortable, forced himself into their family gathering.

She told Zoe to turn off the television, but Tommy insisted he needed to know what was going on. Kat realized it was time Tommy learned who Zoe’s parents really were.
After talking it over, he started to worry about how others would see him, considering he was involved in Joel Marshall’s attack on Vicki Fowler.
Tears filled Kat’s eyes as she comforted her son, and she felt a glimmer of hope when he confessed he wished he could travel back in time and fix the mistakes the Slater family had made.
Will this be a turning point for Tommy?
