In EastEnders, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) was shocked when Peter Beale (Thomas Law) told her he’d secretly planned a wedding for them at The Queen Vic, leaving her to decide if she wanted to go through with it.
Lauren was hoping for a more thrilling relationship, so Peter really went above and beyond when planning their wedding. He got a lot of help from his parents, Cindy and Ian Beale, and his grandmother, Kathy Cotton.
Lauren’s brother, Oscar Branning (played by Pierre Moullier), brought some decorations that had been used at the Trueman wedding.
Honestly, things got really complicated when Lauren, completely unaware of what was going on, wouldn’t go to the spa day Peter had planned. He’d set it up hoping to keep her distracted while everything else was being prepared, but she just wouldn’t budge, and it threw a wrench into everything.
Fortunately, Lauren’s cousin, Penny Branning (played by Kitty Castledine), who didn’t know about his plans, managed to convince Lauren to change her mind.
Penny and Lauren ended up at a bar where they let men buy them drinks. The atmosphere shifted when Penny brought up Lauren’s seeming indifference about Peter getting close to someone else.
Lauren had grown unhappy with Peter, but she pushed those feelings aside when he texted, asking to meet at the pub.
There, Lauren was baffled to see all their family and friends dressed up for a special occasion.
Peter proposed to Lauren right then and there, getting down on one knee. But Lauren was having some doubts – would she say yes?
