It wouldn’t be a proper return to EastEnders for Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) without some kind of fight – it’s just how soap operas work.
Surprisingly, Grant has been staying out of trouble and working to bring his family together after Nigel Bates died. However, he’s been struggling with his relationship with his son, Mark Fowler.
Mark and this person are meeting for the first time, and after being apart for thirty years, Mark has stated he doesn’t want them involved in his life.
Grant gets caught up in the unfolding drama in Albert Square, and it directly involves his son, Mark. Mark has been working for a dangerous criminal, Russell Delaney, for several months and was recently instructed to murder a police informant named Ravi Gulati.
The men began a deadly fight, but Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) pleaded with her brother to stop and do what was right.

As a result, Russell has now demanded a whopping £30,000, or he will target Mark’s family.
With things getting difficult, Sam Mitchell encouraged her nephew to ask Grant for assistance earlier this week. He didn’t want to at first, but after Lauren Beale persuaded him, he decided to be honest.
Things didn’t turn out as he expected. He saw her flirting with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and started to question what was most important to him.
Mark was running out of money, so he asked Lauren if she could sell a few more of his refurbished classic cars at her lot. She explained that she didn’t have the space, leaving Mark with no choice but to confide in Vicki.
She explained she couldn’t afford to help him, but suggested Phil Mitchell – who’s known for having money – might be able to lend him some.
He said that paying for Nigel’s care home and funeral had used up all his money, and it would likely take a while to be able to repay the $30,000.

Sam quickly filled Grant in on the situation, and Grant insisted on helping. Phil cautioned him against it, reminding him of Russell’s ruthlessness, but Grant believed he could handle it.
Grant led the gangster to The Boxing Den and explained that Mark required an extension to gather the funds. Russell immediately recognized him – it was the man who had an affair with his wife, and he was furious.
Things quickly escalated and they started fighting, but thankfully Phil stepped in and tried to talk some sense into him. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. He was really angry and claimed my debt had now doubled, and I had to pay it all within a week. It was a scary situation, honestly.
How will Mark find the money?
