EastEnders confirms Holby City legend cast in pivotal role alongside Zoe Slater’s long-lost son for trial storyline

Big news for EastEnders fans! Zoe Slater, played by Michelle Ryan, is about to be reunited with her son. He’s expected to arrive in Walford later this month.

EastEnders has added Joshua Vaughan to the cast as Josh Goodwin, a character who was first heard on the show last month. He’s the long-lost son of a current character.

He was frantically trying to get in touch with his twin sister, Jasmine Fisher, unaware that she was in jail for killing their father, Anthony Trueman. He also didn’t know that Cindy Beale had taken her phone.

Josh will be joined by Sandra, his adoptive mother, who is portrayed by Dawn Steele, a well-known actress. Steele first became famous in the early 2000s with the comedy-drama Monarch of the Glen, and later played conservationist Alice Trevanion in the popular ITV series Wild at Heart.

Sandra is heading to Albert Square to find out more about why Jasmine is in jail before her court case. As the story unfolds, viewers will discover details about Jasmine’s difficult history and hear Sandra’s side of what happened.

Unaware of everything, her son Josh is right behind her, and he doesn’t know his biological family actually lives nearby.

He’s expected to attract the attention of Oscar Branning, potentially creating a complicated love triangle considering his history with Jasmine.

The new characters coming to the BBC soap will cause problems for everyone, especially as Jasmine’s fate is uncertain.

Steele will be appearing on the show for a brief period, while Vaughan is becoming a permanent cast member on EastEnders.

Vaughan expressed his excitement about landing his first significant television role, saying it was a humbling experience to become part of the well-known Trueman and Slater families on EastEnders.

Working with such experienced actors is an incredible learning opportunity, and I’ve gained so much from them. Josh is a genuinely kind person, and I can’t wait for viewers to see the exciting drama that happens when he joins the show.

Let me tell you, stepping back into the BBC Elstree Centre after four years felt fantastic! I was so excited to take on the role of Sandra – she’s a real troublemaker, coming in to shake things up in the Square, and I couldn’t wait to get started.

Returning to Elstree after Holby City finished felt wonderful. Many of the same crew and some cast members were still working there, and it was lovely to see familiar faces. Everyone made me feel very welcome, and I enjoyed learning different filming techniques. It’s a really efficient set, and everyone works incredibly hard.

EastEnders’ executive producer, Ben Wadey, announced the arrival of Dawn Steele and Josh Vaughan as Sandra and Josh Goodwin. He explained that the show has been building up to this moment, as Zoe has been searching for her son for over a year, and they’re now ready to reveal the rest of her story.

True to form for the Slater and Trueman families, things are never simple, and Sandra and Josh’s arrival is set to cause even more trouble in Walford just as Jasmine’s trial is starting.
