We have another return on the way in EastEnders as an old face is coming back to Walford.
Okay, so I just heard some awesome news! Joel Beckett is officially coming back as Jake Moon in February 2026! Apparently, he’s going to be digging into what happened with his old flame, Chrissie Watts – Tracy-Ann Oberman is reprising that role too, which is fantastic. Sounds like there’s a lot of mystery surrounding their past that they’re finally going to explore.
In a brief appearance, Beckett’s character will prompt Jake to investigate the events of Christmas Day. Chrissie returned then, seeking revenge on Zoe Slater by revealing Zoe’s previously unknown daughter, Jasmine Fisher. Chrissie has been missing ever since.
That same night, Zoe got into a fight with Jasmine’s father, Dr. Anthony Trueman (played by Nicholas Bailey). When Dr. Trueman was later found dead from head wounds, Zoe was arrested for murder.
Everyone initially suspected Chrissie, but it’s now been revealed that Jasmine killed Anthony. She acted in self-defense after he attacked her, following an initial blow from Zoe that knocked him unconscious.
Jake’s search for the real story of Christmas leads him to discover many different and surprising accounts of what happened.
Will Jake finally discover what really happened? Plus, after twenty years, will he reconnect with his cousin Alfie Moon, played by Shane Richie?

Joel Beckett said it was wonderful to return to EastEnders and reprise his role as Jake after so many years. He especially enjoyed working with both the original cast members and the new actors, and was happy to learn that Jake had been living a good life off-screen.
He comes back with more questions than answers, and the story quickly takes some surprising turns. I can’t wait for everyone to see what happens next!
Jake briefly appeared in September 2024, making a surprise visit during the week Chrissie was released from prison. The two reunited romantically after Jake had waited for her for twenty years.

Chrissie and Den Watts had a passionate but ultimately tragic relationship. It ended with Chrissie being convicted of murdering her husband, Den, in 2005, leaving both of them heartbroken.
Jake left Walford in 2006 under suspicious circumstances, seemingly due to trouble with his criminal associates. His disappearance left everyone wondering what happened to him until he unexpectedly reappeared and reunited with Chrissie.
Over the Christmas holiday, Chrissie surprised everyone by announcing her breakup with Jake. This happened because she’d become fixated on getting revenge on Zoe. But viewers also saw that Jake had been attempting to reach out to Chrissie.
Now that we know Chrissie wasn’t responsible for Anthony’s death, can Jake and she rebuild their relationship? Or will Jake take the side of the Moon-Slaters?
