I honestly couldn’t believe it when I heard – Pat Evans is coming back to EastEnders! It’s a total shock, and everyone is buzzing about it. She’s such a legend, and I’m so excited to see her back in Albert Square!
Pam St Clement is returning to her famous role, which she first played from 1986 to 2012, for a special episode next month.
Pat Butcher was a truly iconic character on Albert Square. Famous for her unique style, especially her bold earrings, and memorable relationships with Frank Butcher and Roy Evans, she constantly clashed with Peggy Mitchell. Her dramatic storylines and personality created a period of television history that remains unmatched.
Peggy cared about this character so much that they reappeared – as a vision – in the last episode of Windsor in 2016.

She’ll reappear through this method, now to help Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley), who is dealing with early-onset dementia.
Over the past year, Nige has repeatedly become confused about the current time, often believing it’s the mid-1990s. He’s mistakenly identified several young people as his step-daughter, Clare (played by Gemma Bissix), and has asked after his ex-wife, Debbie (Nicola Duffett).
With Christmas near, Nigel is set to reconnect with an old friend: Pat. Pat is returning to The Queen Vic after a difficult night at a Christmas movie showing, and his memory problems are getting worse.
EastEnders continues to work with Dementia UK on the storyline.
St Clement expressed her surprise and excitement at returning to the show and participating in the heartfelt storyline about Nigel’s dementia.
It was wonderful to see my old colleagues again. It felt like returning home.

Executive Producer Ben Wadey said they are thrilled to have Pam St Clement return to EastEnders for a special episode that continues Nigel’s storyline about dementia.
Pat Evans is a beloved and unforgettable character in Walford, and everyone was thrilled to see her and Pam return to The Queen Vic to support Nigel when he needed help.
This marks the second appearance of St Clement in EastEnders this year. He previously featured in a documentary led by Ross Kemp, celebrating the soap opera’s 40th anniversary.
