EastEnders favourite Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), who has bipolar disorder, has relapsed.
She’s been struggling more lately, especially after her daughter Stacey left and her cousin Zoe accused her of stalking.
Most of the trouble was caused by Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) and carried out by Zoe’s daughter, Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness). However, Jean was the one who wrote a threatening message using the Christmas lights in the window of The Queen Vic.

After Jasmine’s father, Anthony Trueman, was murdered around the holidays – and Zoe was wrongly convicted of the crime – Jean has become certain that Jasmine is the one who committed the act.
She suspects the new family member’s arrival is no accident and believes they’re intentionally trying to harm someone else in the Slater family.
Okay, so I’m seeing a really interesting character arc developing here. Jean is deep into preparation – we’re talking full-on detective mode! She’s built a proper evidence board, she’s binge-watching all the classic detective shows, and – this is a fun detail – she’s even studying videos of a social media influencer. It’s a quirky mix, but it suggests she’s really trying to understand people and how they present themselves, which I think will be key to what happens next.

I was really disturbed earlier this week by how calm Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) seemed around Jasmine. It bothered me because I felt like I was the only one who could see that Jasmine wasn’t what she seemed, and it was unsettling that nobody else seemed to notice.
Eve Panesar-Unwin promised Lily she’d keep her safe as long as Jean continued to live with them. Despite this, Eve secretly continued to look into Jasmine’s background and became angry with anyone who tried to help her relax.

Jasmine had just started her first shift working at The Queen Vic when Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) realized he needed to deliver some unwelcome news – he’d have to ask her to leave.
Honestly, when he got back, I just couldn’t believe he let her stay! And even more surprising, he agreed to let her boyfriend, Oscar Branning, stay too. It felt like a really odd decision, but I guess he felt bad.
While Jasmine was getting ready for bed, Jean entered their apartment and confronted her. Jean then grabbed a chair and started threatening Jasmine and Oscar, until Alfie, hearing the noise, ran inside.
Jean insisted that if Jasmine didn’t leave, then she would have no option but to leave herself.
