EastEnders’ Lacey Turner speaks out on soap exit – and reveals what forces Stacey to leave

EastEnders viewers learned earlier this year that Lacey Turner would be leaving the show. Until now, very few details about how her character would depart had been revealed.

Recently, viewers have seen Stacey Slater learn that her brother Sean is living in Brazil and that he’s offered her the chance to join him there.

It seems Stacey will be taking him up on that offer.

“This is exactly what Stacey needs,” Turner told the BBC. “She’s had a really difficult time, especially after losing Martin. Seeing his market stall every day is just too painful. Brazil might seem like a long way to go, but it’s probably the fresh start she needs.”

Stacey is unsure about moving so far away, mainly because her daughters, Lily and Charli, won’t be joining her.

Turner explained that Lily and Charli’s absence almost made her reconsider, but seeing Max and Zoe together when he returned convinced her she had to leave. She felt confident the Slaters would take care of everything.

According to Turner, the return of Max Branning (Jake Wood) is a major reason Stacey is leaving Walford, but expect a complicated departure – it’s EastEnders, so things rarely go smoothly.

Stacey was completely shocked to see Max again, Turner explained. She hadn’t anticipated his return to Walford and knows his presence always means drama.

Stacey has never been able to resist Max, and she doesn’t understand why. They just keep finding their way back to each other.

We can safely expect plenty more drama ahead for Stacey before her departure from Walford, then.
