Please be advised: The following contains significant spoilers for the EastEnders episode airing on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025. This episode is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
I was shocked by the latest EastEnders reveal! It turns out Max Branning (Jake Wood) really hasn’t changed his ways. It’s a scandalous situation, proving he’s still quite the womaniser!
Okay, so Max made a dramatic return – right at his daughter Lauren’s (Jacqueline Jossa) surprise wedding to Peter Beale (Thomas Law)! And let me tell you, it didn’t take long for him to start causing trouble. He immediately began stirring things up and generally driving everyone crazy, as you might expect. It was classic Max, really – instantly doing everyone’s heads in.
Max dominated the event, causing significant problems for Lauren, his former partner Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), and his complicated, on-again, off-again girlfriend Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan).
The youngest son, Oscar (Pierre Moullier), was certainly happy to see their father, and he even let him meet his new girlfriend, Jasmine (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness).
However, Lauren was much more careful, as Max offered a vague response, saying that staying was a “possibility”.

Max reconciled with Zoe, despite her earlier threat to harm him. Her mother, Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace), witnessed their conversation, but didn’t realize Zoe and Max had a history dating back before his unexpected arrival.
Peter was anxious that his mum, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), would find out Max was back, especially considering Max’s involvement in the death of her son, Steven (Aaron Sidwell). Meanwhile, Lauren reassured her dad that she was happy with Peter.
Seeing how much Max affected Stacey, Zoe advised her against going back, and Stacey assured her she wouldn’t.
However, Max went to Stacey’s house, and when he started to express his feelings about their past together, she gave in and agreed to have a drink with him.
The two of them fondly remembered the past, with Max sharing that he longed for how things once were. However, Stacey revealed that Martin Fowler (James Bye) was the one she truly loved.

Despite their past, a spark reignited between Stacey and Max, and they nearly kissed. However, Zoe interrupted the moment, leading Stacey to request that Max depart.
Driven by her desire for Max, Zoe teamed up with Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) to persuade Stacey to catch her flight to Brazil immediately that night.
I was right there outside The Queen Vic when Zoe told Max she really didn’t kill Greg Dolan (who we all know as Dean Williamson). She was practically begging him to give them another chance, you know? It was a really intense moment, and I just hope they can work things out!
But as Max eventually gave in to a kiss, Stacey appeared, shocked at the sight.
How will she react?
