EastEnders spoilers reveal first look at Ben Mitchell and Stuart Highway returns for funeral scenes

In the forthcoming episode of EastEnders, a sneak peek has been unveiled, showing that Max Bowden and Ricky Champ will once again take on their characters, Ben Mitchell and Stuart Highway.

In March 2024, I relinquished a bar of soap when Ben was extradited to the United States. This character had resorted to credit card fraud as part of a desperate scheme to fund Lola Pearce-Brown’s (Danielle Harold’s character) treatment for a terminal brain tumor, which was aimed at saving his daughter, Lexi.

As a devoted cinephile, I recall that our beloved character, Champ, made his last appearance on the daytime drama back in 2022. The storyline unfolded with Stuart, accompanied by his partner Rainie, departing Walford, as he grappled with his mental health challenges.

It’s now official that the stars will return to their roles for several upcoming episodes this fall, since they are already filming at present.

The characters are coming back for the funeral of Jonno, who was known for his violent and homophobic nature, being the father of Callum and Stuart.

But it seems that Ben’s anticipated reunion with his husband Callum might not happen as planned, since Callum has been unfaithful to Ben with Johnny.

It’s been verified that both characters will be around temporarily, as Ben is currently on temporary leave from prison, and Stuart has personal commitments outside of the Square with Raine.

Although one might assume everything would proceed smoothly, unexpected events can transpire swiftly in Walford.

Initially, the scene depicts Ben, Stuart, Tony Clay’s Callum, and Charlie Suff’s Johnny, all wearing mourning attire, standing together while handcuffed.

Or, more casually: The first glance at the image reveals Ben, Stuart, Callum (Tony Clay’s character), and Johnny (Charlie Suff’s character) all dressed for a funeral, with their hands cuffed.

Back in the early months of this very year, I came across an exciting piece of news in The Sun – it was about the appointment of a new executive producer named Ben Wadey. This dynamic individual had plans to reinstate Bowden for a guest appearance, and if things went well, he might even consider a permanent comeback further down the line.

The publication also reported on Champ’s return, but deemed that to be only for a “limited period”.
