Myrkur Games, creator of the newly released game “Echoes of the End“, has acknowledged and addressed some of the performance-related criticism it has received since its launch. Shortly after release, the Steam page for “Echoes of the End” saw a wave of negative reviews due to technical issues such as stuttering, particularly at the start of the game.
The studio has shared a message asking gamers for their input on any performance problems they may encounter during gameplay, plus additional information such as the specific locations where these issues happened, the graphics settings they have chosen, and the hardware details of their computers. By combining this feedback with the data provided, the studio aims to rectify the technical glitches that the game might be experiencing.
The studio has shared that the game has been active for approximately five hours, and just as anticipated, a flood of user feedback is coming through. We’re excited to see everyone delving into Ryn’s tale at last, however, it seems some of you are encountering performance problems, especially in the early stages of the game.
Rest assured, we’re thoroughly investigating these reports and plan to implement fixes as quickly as possible to tackle this issue promptly.
Today, “Echoes of the End” debuted on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Prior to its launch, Myrkur Games shared a video offering insights into their approach to creating engaging characters for games. As explained by performance director Dadi Einars in the clip, Ryn, the game’s protagonist, was already well-defined before other aspects of the game were finalized. The game Myrkur wanted to create was based on this character concept.
Initially, she wasn’t known as an ordinary person, but rather a powerful warrior with magical prowess. As time passed, this description evolved. She was no longer merely a warrior, but a lone ranger, tasked with surviving in the treacherous wilderness. Moreover, her magical abilities weren’t just potent, she was a Vestige, born with a natural inclination towards destructive magic that most people found terrifying and avoided. Over time, her solitary posting shifted from faith in her abilities to an manifestation of the fear her community held for her.
In addition, the video included Aldis Amah Hamilton, the voice behind Ryn’s character, who shared insights into her experiences with the game’s narrative. She expressed that her affection for the character bloomed as soon as she delved into the storyline.
Hamilton mentioned that understanding a character best for him involves not only reading the script but also observing their responses and actions to various situations. Additionally, he expressed a natural curiosity about what motivates people and the inner workings of human behavior.
The game titled “Echoes of the End” is expected to be a relatively short playthrough, with the developers estimating it will take players approximately 14 to 15 hours to complete if they prioritize the 10-chapter storyline. Notably, great care was taken during development to make the game feel immersive and adventurous for players.
