Like many people in America, I was shocked and deeply disturbed by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It’s frightening because it threatens free speech. When someone who encourages respectful conversation and debate is attacked for their views, it feels like we’re entering a dangerous and unsettling time. What’s even more concerning is seeing so many people openly celebrate his death, especially considering he was someone who would have welcomed them to discuss their differences. It makes you question how divided and broken our society has become.
