The TV show Eight is Enough was a heartwarming comedy-drama inspired by the life of newspaper columnist Thomas Braden and his book about raising eight children. The series starred Dick Van Patten, Lani O’Grady, Connie Needham, Susan Richardson, and Betty Buckley. Many viewers especially loved the character of Nicholas, played by Adam Rich.
The show ran from 1977 to 1981, but was canceled after four seasons because fewer people were watching and it was becoming too expensive to make. Despite the cancellation, its popularity led to two follow-up movies: Eight is Enough: A Family Reunion (1987) and An Eight is Enough Wedding (1989). These movies brought back the original cast members from seasons two through five.
