Eiza González Is Pen Pals With Evelyn Hugo Author Taylor Jenkins Reid

I’m really excited to see what happens with the adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid‘s work! I know Eiza González is good friends with Taylor, and I’m hoping that connection will bring something special to the screen. It feels like they’ll really understand the heart of the story, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.

With speculation growing that Eiza González, known for her role in 3 Body Problem, might be playing Evelyn Hugo in Netflix’s upcoming movie adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel, González recently shared details about her friendship with the author and how they stay connected.

Eiza González shared her admiration for author Taylor at the premiere of her new film, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. In an exclusive interview with TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi, she said she thinks Taylor is “amazing” and that she’s read all of Taylor’s books – the two are even writing letters to each other.

Taylor, 42, and Eiza are incredibly close friends—Taylor even asks Eiza to read and give her opinions on her writing.

Eiza shared that she’s a big fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s work. She enjoyed reading books like Daisy Jones & The Six and Malibu Rising, and actually read everything the author wrote. Reid would often send her advance copies so Eiza could share her thoughts, and she thinks the author is incredibly talented.

The actress, age 36, didn’t confirm or deny if she’d be playing Evelyn Hugo in a movie adaptation. She simply shared her love for the 2017 book, which tells the story of a former Hollywood star, Evelyn, revealing the details of her dramatic life – including her seven marriages – to a journalist named Monique Grant.

Eiza wondered if she had ever talked about wanting to be in the movie. “I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it,” she said, “but I’d really love to be a part of it. I think the book is fantastic.”

The actor, known for Baby Driver, praised the project, saying it’s very clever and feels modern. They were particularly excited that it explores the complexities of real relationships, something they’d hoped to see adapted into a great screenplay, and expressed their enthusiasm about potentially being involved.

Eiza didn’t share any new information about the possible part, but she’s talked about playing the character before.

I was so thrilled when she publicly shared how much playing Evelyn Hugo would mean to her! She actually told TopMob News it would be the “biggest honor,” and get this – Natalie Portman, her co-star from Fountain of Youth, was actively hoping she’d get the part too! It just felt like fate.

She recounted an experience on set where Natalie Portman told her she couldn’t imagine anyone else playing Evelyn Hugo. She was completely stunned and excited, saying it felt amazing to hear Natalie Portman say that to her.

Eiza also strongly insisted the project receive the same careful attention and quality as Taylor’s previous book adaptation, Daisy Jones & The Six.

She praised Daisy Jones & The Six, saying, “They really nailed it! The book is fantastic. But it absolutely has to be done right.”

I’m so excited for Eiza! Right now, she’s really focused on celebrating the release of her new movie, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice, which is coming to Hulu on March 27th. It’s an action film, and she’s joined by some amazing actors like Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, Keith David, and Jimmy Tatro. The story follows two friends who get mixed up in a really dangerous criminal world – it looks like a wild ride!
