Elaine Hendrix Hospitalized During DWTS Rehearsal, Missing Episode

Elaine Hendrix is on the mend.

Just hours before performing on Dancing With the Stars with her partner Alan Bersten for the Halloween show, the Parent Trap actress was unexpectedly hospitalized during practice. This meant she had to miss the episode on October 28th.

Elaine explained in an Instagram video that she hurt her ribs while performing ‘Defying Gravity’ and they suddenly became very painful and immobile. This forced her to go to the hospital.

Although an injury kept her from dancing this week, the former star of Dynasty is confident she’ll be well enough to compete next week.

Elaine explained that the doctor advised a day or two of rest, after which she should be able to continue, and that’s exactly what she planned to do. She was eager to keep dancing and continue performing.

After thanking Alan for keeping things running smoothly, the 54-year-old encouraged her fans to vote for her and her partner. She shared a clip from the show of their rehearsal for the Argentine tango, set to George Thorogood & The Destroyers’ “Bad to the Bone.” The judges gave their practice round eights across the board, and that score will be included in this week’s total.

Elaine shared how much she was looking forward to the performance, and expressed her gratitude, saying, “I love you all and thank you for everything.”

After Elaine received medical clearance to stay on Dancing With the Stars, cohosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough confirmed she and her partner Alan are still in the running, as long as they receive enough votes from viewers.

Despite hoping for another performance opportunity, Alan described how frightening it was to see his partner injured in a video message he shared soon after she was taken to the hospital.

Oh my gosh, it was awful! I was watching the Dancing with the Stars episode, and Alan was talking about dancing with Elaine, and suddenly she just… stopped. He said she froze up and couldn’t breathe, and something happened with her rib! He looked so worried, saying she was in so much pain he didn’t even know if they’d be able to perform. I was seriously on the edge of my seat, hoping she’d be okay! It was heartbreaking to watch!

He also said then that there were many uncertainties, and he hoped this wouldn’t prevent Elaine from achieving her dream of becoming a dancer.
