The release date for the upcoming Elden Ring movie has been confirmed by production company A24.
The movie is based on the popular 2022 video game by FromSoftware and was written and directed by Alex Garland, known for his work on films like 28 Years Later and Warfare.
The movie takes place in a grim fantasy world called the Lands Between and follows a warrior known as the Tarnished. Their mission is to repair the Elden Ring and restore order.
Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 have officially announced that the Elden Ring movie will be released in theaters on March 3, 2028.
The announcement confirmed the movie is currently being made and will also be available in IMAX.

The complete list of actors joining the film has been released. Kit Connor (known for Heartstopper and Warfare), Cailee Spaeny (from Priscilla and Beef), and Ben Whishaw (Paddington, James Bond) were previously announced, and now we know who will be joining them.
The show’s new cast features Tom Burke, known for his roles in “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and “Black Bag,” alongside Havana Rose Liu (“Bottoms”) and Sonoya Mizuno (“Ex Machina”). Joining them are Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes”), Ruby Cruz (“Willow,” “Bottoms”), Nick Offerman (“The Last of Us,” “Parks and Recreation”), as well as John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, and Peter Serafinowicz.
Filming for the movie started earlier this month in the UK, and more will happen in Iceland later in the year.
Elden Ring was created by FromSoftware, a Japanese game studio, with Hidetaka Miyazaki leading the development. George R.R. Martin, the author known for Game of Thrones, helped build the game’s rich story and world.
Since its launch in 2022, the game has become a global success, selling over 30 million copies. It has also been expanded with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in 2024 and a spin-off game, Elden Ring Nightreign, in 2025.
So, I’m really excited about this movie – it’s being made by A24, which is awesome, and they’re working with a UK company called DNA Films. But the coolest part? Bandai Namco, the game company – yeah, those guys – are also involved in producing it! That means it’s likely to have some seriously cool visuals and maybe even nods to their games, which I’m totally hoping for.
