Elden Ring Movie Sets Release Date, Adds Furiosa Star & More to Cast

The release date and cast for the upcoming live-action movie based on the popular video game Elden Ring, produced by A24, have been revealed.

When is the Elden Ring movie release date?

Elden Ring is coming to movie theaters on March 3, 2028, thanks to a partnership between A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment. Filming for the Imax release will begin this spring in the U.K.

The cast of the upcoming Elden Ring adaptation just got a lot bigger! Joining the project are Tom Burke (known for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Havana Rose Liu (from Bottoms), Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina), Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes), Ruby Cruz (Willow), John Hodgkinson (Napoleon), Jefferson Hall (Oppenheimer), Emma Laird (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), and Peter Serafinowicz (The Tick).

The film’s cast includes Kit Connor, known for Heartstopper, Ben Whishaw from Skyfall, Cailee Spaeny of Alien: Romulus, and Nick Offerman, who starred in The Last of Us.

Alex Garland is set to write and direct a new movie. He’s previously worked with A24 on films like Ex Machina (2014), Men (2022), Civil War (2024), and the upcoming Warfare (2025). The movie will be produced by Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, George R. R. Martin, and Vince Gerardis, who also worked on Elden Ring.

The Hollywood Reporter says the upcoming Elden Ring TV show cost “well over $100 million” to make. Filming is expected to take about 100 days.

The action role-playing game, released in 2022, was developed with input from Hidetaka Miyazaki of FromSoftware and inspired by a story from George R. R. Martin. Players can explore large landscapes and dungeons, discovering secrets and experiencing the satisfaction of conquering difficult challenges.

Elden Ring has surpassed 30 million copies sold worldwide.

Footage from the set recently showed the remains of the Church of Marika. Since Queen Marika holds the Elden Ring within the game, she’s a central and vital character.
