Here’s a breakdown of the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, including details on new enemies called Nightfarers, the Shifting Earths area, and everything else you need to know.

The eagerly awaited DLC for Elden Ring, called The Forsaken Hollows, has been officially announced by FromSoftware. Similar to past DLC releases for their Souls games, The Forsaken Hollows offers a large amount of new content that might feel daunting to those just starting out. The expansion includes new bosses and introduces two new playable characters called Nightfarers.

The Forsaken Hollows update brings exciting new content to Elden Ring, including dynamic ‘Shifting Earth’ events and challenging ‘Raid’ encounters. There’s a lot to be excited about with next month’s launch! Here’s a complete guide to everything you need to know about Elden Ring: Nightreign – The Forsaken Hollows.

When Is Elden Ring Nighteign’s The Forsaken Hollows DLC Releasing?

The Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC is coming out on December 4, 2025. It will be available on all the same platforms as the original Elden Ring Nightreign game. Players who bought the Deluxe Edition will receive the DLC, the expansion’s soundtrack, and a digital artbook for free.

Similar to the original game, The Forsaken Hollows is very affordable. It costs just $15 on all platforms and you can pre-order it now. FromSoftware has shared some details about what’s included in the new DLC, and here’s a rundown of what you can expect.

Nightfarers

The major addition in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (The Forsaken Hollows DLC) is the introduction of two new playable characters, the Nightfarers: Scholar and Undertaker. Scholar is a new type of magic-user, skilled in Arcane, Dexterity, and Intelligence. Although details are currently scarce, Scholar appears to fight with a Thrusting Sword and can also use Sorceries.

Scholar’s Ultimate Art lets him weaken multiple enemies, functioning in a way that’s comparable to Emily Kaldwin’s Domino power in Dishonored 2. Meanwhile, Undertaker is a versatile character combining Strength and Faith, focusing on Incantations and wielding Maces. She also possesses an Ultimate Art that allows her to survive a deadly blow and instantly strike back.

It appears the new Nightfarers class will significantly change how players approach Expeditions. Although the base game featured Faith-based characters like the Revenant and Recluse, they weren’t designed to be strong offensive spellcasters. FromSoftware aims to address this with the Undertaker class.

The downloadable content will also include new cosmetic items for all Nightfarers, but FromSoftware hasn’t shared specifics about those items yet.

Bosses

In The Forsaken Hollows, FromSoftware is introducing two new bosses for Day 3. However, since the DLC’s final boss is called the Dreglord, these Day 3 bosses probably won’t be called Nightlords. The DLC will also include new bosses for Day 1 and Day 2, in addition to these new Day 3 challenges.

The reveal trailer showed that Knight Artorias, a popular boss from Dark Souls, will be returning. We can anticipate even more bosses from Dark Souls appearing in the DLC. Plus, enemies and bosses from Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion will also be included in The Forsaken Hollows.

Shifting Earth

The Forsaken Hollows update introduces a new area called the Great Hollow, which is a Shifting Earth. Like other Shifting Earths, it will feature a unique dungeon to explore, challenging bosses to defeat, and exclusive rewards. The update also adds new Raid events to the Expeditions mode.

A new Raid event will bring Gladius to Limveld, the same location featured in the initial announcement trailer. While The Forsaken Hollows DLC won’t introduce a new map, it will take place on the existing Limveld map. However, expect some changes to the landscape thanks to the new Shifting Earth feature and the Raids themselves.
