Elder Scrolls 6 fans think they’ve found a release date hint & it’s like Silksong all over again

Fans of The Elder Scrolls 6 are predicting the game will be released in 2027. This belief started after they noticed what they think is a hint about the release date in the trailer for Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Before the release of Hollow Knight Silksong in 2025, fans were eagerly awaiting any information about the game’s launch. They began to carefully examine every update and trailer, searching for even the smallest clue about the release date, often hoping for something even when it was unlikely.

It’s been a long time – over 14 years – since the last Elder Scrolls game came out, and more than seven years since The Elder Scrolls 6 was even announced. Fans are getting increasingly impatient, and the wait is starting to feel as frustrating as the ongoing anticipation for the game Silksong.

With Skyrim now available on the Switch 2, a playful moment in the game’s announcement trailer has led many fans to believe a new Elder Scrolls game (ES6) might be released in just two years.

Elder Scrolls 6 fans think Bethesda just teased a 2027 launch

The trailer shows a funny problem: Santa’s naughty or nice list gets erased! One quick-thinking elf suggests giving everyone the video game Skyrim on the new Nintendo console as a gift. This sparks a playful detail – a pop-up reveals the elf’s level is “20” and his speaking skill is “27,” hinting at a video game-inspired solution to the Christmas crisis.

The TESVI subreddit is currently full of posts from fans speculating that the game will be released in 2027. Some of these posts are meant as jokes, but many fans are genuinely convinced this is true.

One commenter said they usually don’t believe in conspiracy theories, but they’ve long predicted that the game TESVI will be released in 2027. They pointed to a detail in the announcement trailer for the Skyrim Switch 2 port – a seemingly small, but deliberate detail – and believe it was intentionally included by Todd Howard.

Someone pointed out how remarkably precise the detail about level 20 and Speech skill 27 is. They believe it’s too specific to be a coincidence, suggesting the developers intentionally included that information. Even random numbers would have worked, but this level of detail still aligns with previous statements that the game is still some time off from release.

While it seems ambitious, a 2027 release for the game isn’t impossible. Todd Howard recently admitted the game is still quite far from completion, and even though rumors pointed to a 2028 target, he intentionally avoided confirming any specific release window.

However, it would be a very strange place to begin revealing details about one of the most eagerly awaited games being made right now.

Even if The Elder Scrolls 6 doesn’t come out in 2027, the buzz from the recent trailer suggests we can anticipate many more fan theories while we wait for its release.
