Elektra Deserves Her Own Ongoing Series (Here’s Why)

It’s challenging to envision a period when Elektra wasn’t involved in Daredevil’s story. Over the years, she has played both lover and adversary, and her fascinating character has made a significant impact on Daredevil comics. Recently, fans have enjoyed a prosperous era for Elektra as she assumed the role of Daredevil herself. After starring in two miniseries penned by Erica Schultz, it’s now fitting that Elektra should lead her own ongoing series.

Previously, Elektra has starred in multiple series throughout the years, yet each one had a brief run. With her growing popularity and renewed commitment to justice, introducing an ongoing series featuring Elektra as a leading hero, either solo or taking on the Daredevil mantle while confronting her unique adversaries, could offer readers a fresh perspective – and it seems fitting now.

Why She Need Her Own Series

A significant portion of the Elektra series often explores her psychological journey from being an assassin for The Hand. Despite its initial appeal, this theme has become overused and limiting to the character’s development. However, Elektra is currently in a new psychological state, experiencing significant personal growth, which presents an excellent opportunity to explore what her healed present contrasts with her past. The Hand will continue to pursue her and try to reclaim her, but given her history of defying fate, it fits well with her character to persistently resist their grasp. This time, though, she does so as a more emotionally mature character who has undergone extensive personal growth.

Double the Devils, Double the Threats

It’s intriguing to consider what a world with two Daredevils might look like, given that Spider-Man and Hawkeye have successfully shared the same identity with different individuals. This thought is further supported by the second miniseries of the new Daredevil, which finds her spending most of her time in Madripoor. The concept of Elektra operating beyond Hell’s Kitchen could be an exciting development, as she has the means to assist wherever she’s required.

It’s worth mentioning that she is already establishing a reputation and garnering enemies as Daredevil, making her presence in other locations plausible. Her actions have not gone unnoticed, with the new Punisher taking notice of her, and she has even faced off against the second Muse. This foundation sets the stage for unique storylines that distinguish her from Matt Murdock, and it’s possible she may even encounter threats exclusive to her own character.

Elektra shows tremendous promise in the role of Daredevil, both independently and with Matt Murdock. It seems Marvel has picked up on this potential, and the character’s development has been exceptional, reaching the pinnacle of her individual capabilities. Taking on the mantle of Daredevil provided an additional, well-earned boost to her character.

Character evolution is common over time, and these changes serve a purpose. It signifies growth, and for Elektra, it has been a captivating journey. For quite some time now, it’s been appropriate for the character to step out of her past and take on more significant roles.

The success of her recent miniseries and tenure as Daredevil suggest that Elektra is primed to spearhead another solo series. Fans are eager for this development, and so is Elektra herself.
