Elizabeth Olsen is currently starring in a popular fantasy film on streaming services, and many people aren’t surprised. She’s proven herself to be a talented actress with a knack for choosing compelling projects. While she’s widely known for playing Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – appearing in films like Avengers, WandaVision, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – she also consistently delivers critically acclaimed performances in films like Martha Marcy May Marlene and Wind River. Her latest movie, released in 2025, is already earning praise from both critics and audiences.
Elizabeth Olsen’s movie, Eternity, released in 2025, is currently the most popular film on Apple TV+, according to data from FlixPatrol. It’s even beating out the Brad Pitt racing movie, F1, which is in second place. Although Apple TV+ primarily features films it produced itself, reaching the number one spot is still a significant achievement for Eternity, placing it ahead of other Apple originals like The Gorge, The Family Plan, Highest 2 Lowest, and Ghosted.
Eternity is a fantasy film set in the afterlife. It follows Larry, played by Miles Teller, a man who dies after 65 years of marriage to Joan (Elizabeth Olsen). In the afterlife, he’s given a single choice of where to spend eternity. Once he makes that choice, he’s stuck with it – if he changes his mind, he’s condemned to an endless, dark emptiness. Larry decides to wait for Joan to join him.
The story presents a difficult choice. When Joan passes away, she finds both her husbands waiting for her in the afterlife. Luke, her first husband who died in the Korean War, has been waiting for 67 years. She must then decide which of them she wants to spend eternity with. While the film has fantastical elements, at its heart it explores the true meaning of love, suggesting that enduring love built on shared struggles can be more meaningful than a fleeting, passionate romance.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Eternity Was a Critics’ Favorite As Well

As a movie buff, I was really excited to see this one getting such a positive response! Critics generally liked it – it scored 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and even earned the ‘Certified Fresh’ badge. But honestly, what really blew me away was the audience score – a whopping 90%! That’s enough to get the ‘Certified Hot’ designation, which is amazing. It’s a romantic comedy, sure, but with a fun fantasy twist that really sets it apart and seems to have won over even those who aren’t usually big rom-com fans.
This film fits right in with A24’s catalog, though it’s not one of their more unusual projects. It still manages to be distinctive, as you’d expect from the studio. Critics loved it, earning a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Comedy, and both Miles Teller and Da’Vine Joy Randolph received awards for their performances – Teller at the Savannah Film Festival and Randolph from the San Diego Film Critics Society.
