Elizabeth Olsen is currently enjoying a surge in popularity. She recently starred in the romantic comedy Eternity with Miles Teller and Callum Turner, a film with a compelling story about a woman choosing between her husband and her first love. Critics praised Olsen for bringing depth to her role. She’s also constantly in the news due to her connection with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite her character, Wanda Maximoff, having died in the films three years ago, there’s ongoing speculation about her potential return in a future project.
Elizabeth Olsen’s definitely looking ahead, and it’s easy to see why. She’s got another potentially huge film, Panic Carefully, coming up with Julia Roberts, Eddie Redmayne, and Brian Tyree Henry – talk about a cast! But it’s not just the Marvel machine keeping her busy. I was surprised to see her HBO Max series, Love & Death, popping up on the streaming charts again, proving it still has a following two years later.
Love & Death tells the real-life story of Candy Montgomery, who had an affair with a neighbor in the 1970s. The situation escalated despite their attempts to keep it secret, ultimately leading to a tragic death. The series explores the details of the affair and its consequences, including Candy’s subsequent trial.
The HBO Max limited series Love & Death quickly became a popular hit when it premiered in 2023, becoming the platform’s most-watched original series worldwide. However, it’s now available on Netflix. While many might think this move is related to Netflix’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, that’s not the reason—that deal isn’t expected to finalize until 2026 or later.
Netflix Will Take a Win Wherever It Can Get One

If you check Netflix’s list of the top 10 shows in the US right now, you’ll find Love & Death at number eight, between The Beast in Me and Raw: 2025. This is good news for Netflix, as they had to acquire the rights to the show from HBO Max. Another true crime series, The Staircase, also climbed the charts, but it hasn’t become as popular as Love & Death.
Elizabeth Olsen truly carries the show, delivering a compelling performance as a complex woman seeking change. But Jesse Plemons is equally impressive, earning an Emmy nomination for his role as Allan Fore. Olsen herself received a Golden Globe nomination – her second to date – and while she didn’t win, the show’s continued success is likely reward enough.
