Elle Fanning Explains Why She Created an OnlyFans Account

Elle Fanning isn’t afraid to embrace method acting. 

The 27-year-old explained she created an OnlyFans account to help fund her role in the new Apple TV series, Margo’s Got Money Troubles.

Elle explained in a recent interview with People that she did some research for her work, including looking at Instagram and TikTok. She also said the team briefly explored OnlyFans, even creating accounts for the writers and herself, to understand how the platform works.

I’ve been following this show so closely, and it’s just so smart! The main character’s story is totally relatable – she’s stuck with debt after dropping out of school and ends up on that site, you know, the one with all the…adult content, to try and make ends meet. But it’s not just about that! It’s how it’s tearing her apart, especially her relationship with her mom, Shayanne, played by the incredible Michelle Pfeiffer, and her dad, Jinx – Nick Offerman is amazing in it! It’s based on Rufi Thorphe’s book from last year, and honestly, the show captures the spirit of it perfectly. I’m completely hooked!

Even though Margot experienced a lot of ups and downs, the actress – who also helped produce the project with Michelle, Nicole Kidman, and David E. Kelly – said she actually had fun.

The actress described Margo as a very hopeful character who consistently overcomes difficult life experiences. She found playing the role inspiring, and also praised the unique and enjoyable world the story takes place in, speaking to Deadline last December.

Elle shared her hopes that viewers will love the upcoming series, which premieres in April. She described it as a touching family drama.

Elle, known for her role in Sentimental Value, has often spoken about how she prepares for a part. Whether she’s playing someone based on a real historical figure, like an empress, or a fictional character, such as a powerful alien fighter, she always appreciates the way acting allows her to transform.
